You never thought you could bring yourself to get tired of two simple words, if it wasnt for your recent boyfriend repeating it like his life depends on it. The first time you heard it was when you tried to give Akito a goodbye kiss on the cheek after spending some time at his place working on a school project. His sister, named Ena, camed home earlier than usual it seems and started teasing him non-stop for being so close to you. He grumbled a bit and asked you to leave because he was worried about you walking home late at night, but also because he couldnt stand his sister close to you two. That’s when you leaned in, but he dodged it, glancing around nervously, probably worried Ena was nearby. You asked him what was wrong, and after some grumbling and hesitation, he finally mumbled it with a slight blush: "Its embarrassing..." You let it slide the first time, and the second time, and the third time, and...yeah, you let it slide a lot. Everything that had to do with public affection its embarrassing for him. A little quick kiss on the cheek? Its embarrassing. Grabbing his hand? Its embarrassing. (And you will see him blushing furiously while frowning- but he isnt really mad!!) Everything that involved affection on public started to be avoided with those two words, and you were getting tired. It was one of those days where you really got tired of it. You were so excited when he agreed to grab a meal with you at a café after school! You totally understood that Akito’s schedule was super tight with his practices, school, and part-time job, but you still loved and supported him. That excitement, however, quickly faded into mild annoyance when Akito dodged your kiss, trying to play it off like he didn’t notice your intention just because Toya and An were passing by. You just sighed and kept walking with him, saying nothing but with a clear frown on your face that talked enough by itself. Akito noticed your annoyance, heck- he always noticed. But you have to understand him too! for some reason people always have to appear when you decide to kiss him. Dont misinterpret it tho! he loves those kisses- its just too annoying and embarrassing having to deal with someone teasing words. He loves you, lots. He thinks you have a lot of patience with him, and he cant help but feel slightly guilty for the way he has been acting on public with you. With that said, you two were already sitted on a table in a new café that called Akito's attention for their pancakes and he wasnt liking your silence at all. He sighs trying to call your attention from the parfait, but since you just glanced at him taking a bite of it to hide your no will to talk, an idea pops on his head and he talks instead of asking you whats wrong (He clearly knows whats wrong) "Hey, i never tried that flavour on a parfait- you wouldnt mind giving me a bite, right?" - Akito ask casually, leaning slowly knowing you wouldnt deny him. You grumbled slightly since you were mad, but honestly, he was so cute that you couldn’t stay upset. As you picked up a piece of the parfait with your fork, ready to feed him, you were caught off guard. Suddenly, two hands cupped your cheeks, and he gave you a quick but intentional kiss. The shock of the moment left you frozen, so you didn’t notice the small lick he gave his lips afterward—not just to taste the sweetness of the parfait, but of your lips too. He hummed softly, turning to look out the window beside him slowly, trying to hide the slight blush on his face as he rested his chin on his hand. "Yeah...it tastes sweet i might ask you for another bite tomorrow." - Akito said with a small laugh, catching the big, shaky grin spreading across your face from the corner of his eye. Maybe Akito was getting better at handling embarrassing situations—especially if it meant seeing you completely lose your composure over something as small as a kiss. Wait... did he just think a kiss wasn’t a big deal?

the classroom was empty now. you could tell based on how distant everyone’s chatter was. only you remained, lingering behind like a ghost. right now, part of you wished you really were a ghost.

you didn’t know when it had started. the terrible, overwhelming noise. an hour ago, or two, or even at the very start of the day? it didn’t matter now. all you thought of was your pain as you sat huddled under the desk. shaking like a leaf.

someone help me…

your classmates might walk in at any second, and the very thought of that terrified you. they’d probably laugh and ridicule you badly, making this situation worse and worse than it already was.

“oi!”

you visibly flinched at the voice. who was this?.. no matter. he sounded angry, and that alone made your heartbeat quicken.

a pause. you curled up tighter around yourself.

this time, he sounded much less scary.

the stammering slipped your mouth before you could stop it.

you weren’t sure what you wanted. his comfort? making him go away? before you had the time to think about it, he crouched down in front of you. suddenly self-conscious about having been rocking back and forth, you stopped and looked at his face.

surprisingly, there was nothing but compassion in his eyes. you averted your gaze quickly.

your heart… it hurt! it hurt so badly. you couldn’t really trust this boy, could you?

“do you want to… tell me what happened? talk about it? god, no, you’re probably in no state to… hold on, i’ll dim the lights.”

he seemed unsure. you didn’t want to trouble him, so for a moment you considered telling him off.

he got up and closed the classroom’s shutters. they weren’t connected to any other classrooms, so it wasn’t a problem.

in the end, you didn’t have the heart to fight his kindness.

“there. is that better?” he asked.

you nodded, wiping at your tears.

“thank you.”

“what for?”

“for being nice to me.”

akito grimaced. then, with great effort, he eased back into a softer expression.

“that’s the bare minimum. i saw you crying — heck, you were bawling your eyes out and panicking — so of course my first instinct was to help,” he said.

“hm,” you said.

“listen… i have no idea what’s got you so worked up, but it’ll be okay. yes, it’ll be okay. okay? there.”

your heart was practically melting. really, to you such kindness was a rarity. something truly precious. you were still hurting inside, but at the same time his very words were enough to ground you a little.

before long you realized your tears had stopped falling, so you couldn’t help but smile softly.

“this is so embarrassing,” you muttered sheepishly.

“believe me, i know what you mean.”

akito got up.

“but you’re already feeling a little better, right?”

“i think so,” you replied.

“that’s good.”

for a moment, you just sat in silence. it wasn’t particularly uncomfortable or awkward; you were still just processing your earlier emotions.

“sorry for the trouble,” you said eventually.

“i already told you, there’s no need to thank me or anything like that.”

he smiled.

you smiled back.

“you wanna go for ice cream now? our paths home from school are quite similar, anyway,” he mused.

“yes!” you exclaimed, mouth watering at the thought of ice cream.

and so you got up, idly musing about which flavor to pick, by akito’s side.

While watching a movie with you, she felt something on her shoulder, looking over, it was you, asleep and unaware.

She freezes, forgetting how to breath, feeling her heart beat faster, her palms sweating, yet, she found herself enamoured to your soft breaths, she awkwardly sits there, the noise on the tv slowly fading away. "Huh..?! Hey..? Wake up.!" Kohane mutters, lightly poking you, seeing you not moving, she relaxes after some deep breaths. It takes a lot of trust to fall asleep on someone.

She turns off the movie, not wanting to disturb your peace. With one last look at you, she gently whispers "sleep well.. we can finish the movie once you wake up" she smiles closing her eyes and sleeping alongside you.

You were staying over at her place, while she was teaching you how to perfect your vocals, she grins when she realizes you've fallen asleep on her. She slings her arm over your shoulder, pulling you closer.

"Haha..! Guess I'm a very boring teacher" she says quietly, more to herself. She grabs a blanket nearby and drapes it over the two of you. Minutes pass by, and she still hasn't fallen asleep, too focused on the rise of your chest and how peaceful you look.

She glances at you again, stealing some selfies together. She kisses the top of your head, sighing to herself. Shes not gonna fall asleep just yet. She scrolls on her phone for a bit before joining you in your slumber. Once you're awake, she'll surely have fun teasing you.

When he feels your head drift against him, he stays completely still. Like a statue, glowing red. "Oi wake up" He mutters, his voice quiet, yet loud enough for you to hear.

He stays completely still, unsure of what to do. With a sigh, he gives up, he lowers the sounds of the movie, yet, he doesnt focus on the screen before him. He found himself staring at your relaxed face. "You really trust me this much huh.." he mutters to himself.

He adjusted his position so that you could lean more easily, when the movie ended, he wanted to wake you up, to tell you that you missed it all. But he stops himself.

That can wait. He thinks. So with a sigh, he lets you relax while he doomscrolls, doing anything just to ignore that beating of his heart.

✮Toya aoyagi

Toya's breath freezes once he realizes you fell asleep midway while tutoring you. What should he do? Should he wake you up? Or just let you sleep there? So, he stays perfectly still, not realizing he has been holding in his breath.

After some time, he calms down, still, he's been sweating profusely.. he grabs a book nearby, the one where you struggled to understand it, he distracts himself by reading a bunch of books and notes spayed in the room.

"You must've been exhausted" he mutters, his tone more stiff and hushed.

He continues reading on whatever book he finds, but hes not paying attention, how could he when youre so close to each other? With a soft yawn, he accidentally drops his book. "Looks like I'm tired as well" he says, finally leaning his head against yours, his breaths slowly matching with yours as you both fall asleep.

✮MEIKO

The moment your head hits on Meiko's shoulder, she immediately looked over at you, only to find you sleeping. "Huh.." Meiko mumbled, she stays still, looking at the slow rise and fall of your chest before smiling to herself. "Guess im very comfortable" she whispere, a hint of amusement on her voice.

She adjusts her positions a bit, pulling you close while her hand on your waist rubbed circles, she watches the movie all on her own, alternating between you and the laptop screen. When the credits rolled, she closed her laptop away, she shifts for a bit, making the two of you lay down, your head now on her chest, you wake up momenteraly, she smiles at you, patting your head. "Movies over, we can always watch it again" she whispered softly, seeing you go back to sleep, she smiles fondly at you. Kissing the top of your head, she closes her eyes and falls asleep with you, her breath matching the pace of yours.

Akito was a total ass. Not in the pervy way like other boys your age, but he was just so damn stubborn and hotheaded, refusing to listen to anyone ever.

Sometimes, he blew up at you when he needed someone to blame, which often had you crying to An or Mizuki after school. It was a mystery to them; why did you stay with him when he always broke your heart like that?

What they didn't see was how sweet he could be to you.

The way his hands trembled so subtly as he wiped away your running eyeliner, a muscle ticking in his jaw with guilt. He tried to reassure you the best he could without his pride getting in the way, but he stumbled and stuttered, trying to tame his words.

For the week following his mistake, he came to your house every morning just to redraw the eye makeup he ruined that day. As if walking you to school every day wasn't enough.

On his way home, he always brought you to the cafés that Ena always bugged him to visit, using the money he'd put aside from his part-time job to buy you whatever you wanted. You always insisted on bringing home some cheesecake for her, much to his dismay.

He never tried to charm you like he would to strangers or acquaintances; he could barely speak straight because he liked you so much.

On the contrary, he spoke in snarky comments or shy, grumbled compliments.

But he was still thankful, in a way. The way your eyes lit up at a gift that she had suggested, or when you got all excited after he dressed up to match you on a date... it was thanks to her, though he hated to admit it.

You were definitely a handful to balance, from his job to his passion, but he wouldn't give you up. He tried once but couldn't bear it. His music didn't sound right, he couldn't sleep, and if people thought he was crabby before? It had nothing on him like that.

Before he knew it, you'd become something central in his life. Something he depended on. And even if he couldn't say it, he really did cherish you.
