reyes loved children. he absolutely adored their energy & just everything about them. he loved listening to whatever they had to say, to being immersed in their imaginations. he was the type of person who’d just sit down & listen to a kid ramble about why spoons should be blue & the pink unicorns were definitely better than purple tigers. he had two younger sisters growing up & he adored them like nothing else. they were his entire world. & you know, reyes has this tendency to just take kids underneath his wing. like he did with mccree & with genji. he’d wouldn’t leave kids in a shitty situation if he can do something to help them.
reaper is ambivalent towards them. he doesn’t care about them. i wouldn’t say that he’s necessarily indiscriminate because i feel like there’s still enough of an echo within him that he’d avoid doing harm to them. like in the cinematic trailer, were he a crueler person, it wouldn’t have been hard at all to use those kids as leverage. i can’t say for sure, but it seemed as if reaper tended to lead the fight away from where the children were. then again, he also popped a death blossom & starter shooting everywhere. maybe he wouldn't actively avoid causing havoc where there are children around, but he wouldn’t go out of his way to put them in harm’s way either.
