His charm hits a little different today, and she grows more timid not out of that fond little sense of infatuation that comes whenever he smiles at her, but rather with an annoying bout of insecurity. Of course he’s popular. Him being exceedingly handsome aside, he’s also kind and goes out of his way to help people beyond what his job entails. All the women in the neighborhood must have stopped by with their gifts already. She manages a smile at the thought of a thankful wife sending gifts every year, but her brain chooses to focus on the most instead, meaning a few weren’t from clients. His teasing remark hits the nail on the head, and she’s not quite prepared for it, color rising along her cheeks. Whatever easy confidence she had thinking she could just casually give him a valentine’s day gift has now slipped through her fingers, and she can only muster enough to give both of them an out.
“I... made chocolate strawberry shortcake.” She explains with a small smile, still holding the bag behind herself. “But you’re probably sick of sweets by now, huh?”
