So! So in the Order of the Stick comic, it was revealed that the vampire soul that fills in a turned vamp is meant to fill who the living being was on their worst day. This was studied through Durkon Thundershield. But what we never studied was what Malack, a cleric of the death god Nergal and the one who turned Durkon into his worst day was. One of Malack's core beliefs is that "Living or dead, we are all marching to our orders[...] It does not matter whence those orders come, be it man or god. Our place is as an obedient slave to those who command us. Through service, we are rewarded. That is the true natural order. Only [fools] resist." Malack in his life was an "ignorant barbarian shaman," and that leads one to believe that he was likely chaotic in that past life. My thoughts on his vampire core beliefs are that his worst day had something to do with having a free spirit broken and being forced to serve another. Since this was the worst day that undead Malack was formed upon, undead Malack was given the task of rationalizing this so he didn't lose his morale as a vampire.
I have Malack on the brain.
