I did not cry when I woke up on November 9th to learn that Donald Trump had become the president elect. His win confirmed what I had already learned from 15 years of Catholic school in a white suburb and growing up in a white euro ethnic family; that racism and contempt for minorities of all kinds is very much alive and well in America.
I did cry when I walked out of class on November 16th, to see my school Rutgers University marching in protest of not just Trump, but all of the harmful ideas that he perpetrated throughout his campaign and validates through his won elected position as President of the United States.
I saw hundreds of people taking time out of their day and making the effort to show that they cared for me and the people I love, that they will not stand for injustice that many of us Americans fear is coming. While the entirety of America is not fully reflected in our current government, We The People will look out for one another.
It was an act of solidarity and support, and today more than ever, I understand the importance and meaning of a peaceful protest, the beauty of that first amendment right.
i think the longer we live the more we have to be sad about. in the end, the sadness just wins.
poc adoption narrative in a white family/context:
I was taught to love whiteness, not myself
while we’re at it Philip Hamilton and Jehan Prouvaire had a passionate, poetry/love-letter based long distance relationship...anachronistic but still confirmed
welcome to the college theatre production of Hamilton as performed by les amis, casted by @iam-the-eggman and i and our garbage minds

im bad at self identifying things with me be it pain when i get injured or sick, or when im hungry or have to go to the bathroom, its the same with my emotional state.
Therapists say to rate your feelings in a day on a one to ten scale, but im bad at that too, but i think a good starting point is just writing that this day or dates were significant in the sense that you are not feelings normal or good on those days.
