vegEMOJI: vegan pictotexting is here!
I just downloaded the new vegEmoji app a little while ago and as you can see, my friends are already really enjoying it!
VegEmoji is a totally free app brought to you by Vegenaise creator Follow Your Heart and rapper Lil B. Check out Lil B's MIT lecture where he announced the partnership, as well as discussed everything from Uber to the campus rape epidemic. It's super interesting. Of the partnership, Lil B had this to say:
...I took on my first consulting job in a company that I'm going to be working with, and I'm developing an app for them. They're a vegan company, called Follow Your Heart. They deal with no GMOs, which is genetically modified organisms. They don't have any animal products. It took me a long time to align myself with another brand. There's a lot of brands that come to me, and they might offer any amount of money, but I'm not going to just conform or change the vibe of my brand or my ethics or what I stand by for money. I work too hard. When you really have pride in your brand and what you do, you have to be very careful of who you align yourself with and who you endorse. A lot of people don't get it. It takes a long time to get it. It takes a lot of love and a lot of respect.
As someone who works in advertising, the intersection of branding and ethics is a constant in my mind. I mean, advertising doesn't have to be evil. Every organization can benefit from getting their message out to people. (I'm gonna use my copywriting powers to save all the sharks one day! Believe that!!!!)
But... back to vegEmoji. I tested them out on my little sis too:
She hearts me.
My fave vegEmoji is the "Meet me at the farmers market" one OBVI. Because me and my brother are always on our weekend farmers market steez. And also because SO VEGAN. But yeah, really everyone should be going to the farmers market if you can. For no other reason then the fruit and veggies aren't just cheaper, they are way better quality! I swear, I get so mad, even at Whole Foods. I get what looks like some nice Brussels and they taste so blah compared to what I get from the farmers market. But if they got them at the market, I take those baby Brussels and roast 'em up! Dip 'em in a little Vegenaise mixed with a good mustard, and BAM! I'm a happy rascal.
So, it's a fun, easy to use litttle app. And it's free, like I said. The only thing I wish is the space above and below the vegEmojis was smaller when you send them, but I don't know if that's possible. Plus, that's prob only important if you're planning to screengrab and post your vegEmoji convos on your corny pink-ass dino-themed vegan blog. BUT WHO WOULD DO THAT.
