What I Eat In A Day: How To Eat Healthy While In College
Hey guys! Today, I’m going to be talking about what I eat in a day/how I eat healthy while I’m in college. Compared to the average college student, I eat pretty clean. I don’t eat any desserts, don’t drink soda, don’t drink any sugary types of drinks, etc. Like one time I was out with my friends and they were like let’s get some dessert and I was like first off I’m dairy-free and I don’t eat sweets like that. They were so shocked. Honestly, the only time I eat sweets is if I make them myself because I know what is in them. Growing up, I’ve always been one to want to know what exactly am I eating. That probably comes from the selective eater in me (call it picky if you want to), but it has paid off. Sometimes my friends joke and say that I basically don’t eat anything but that’s definitely not true. I thought it would be fun to show you guys what I typically eat in a day when I’m off at school. I usually eat the same day every day but I try to switch it up so I don’t get suuupper bored, ya know?
Breakfast
What I have for breakfast kind of varies depending on the day. On this particular day, I had an egg white omelet from the omelet bar. I don’t really get too much in my omelet because I'm not a fan of the options they have. I usually just get mushrooms and onions in mine. Sometimes I might get vegetarian sausage to go with it or I’ll just eat the omelet with a glass of infused water. My school has different infused waters every day like one day they will have lemon water, another day will be cucumber water, another day will be orange water and so forth and so forth.
Lunch
I usually have the same thing for lunch and dinner, but I might change up my vegetable selection. We have a Mongolian bar at my school, so I’ll get veggie stir fry with usually just the vegetables. Once in a blue moon, I might ask for just a little rice, but most of the time I just get the vegetables. On this particular day, I got kale, broccoli, carrots, edamame, mushrooms, onions, and garlic.
Dinner
Like I mentioned earlier, I would usually have veggie stir-fry for dinner but change up the veggie selection. However, when I got into the dining hall I was happily surprised to see they had black bean soup in their soup section since they usually only have soups with either meat or cheese or both haha! Let me just tell you guys that this soup was absolutely slamming! It was just what I needed on a cold day.
Snacks
I try my hardest not to be that college snacker, but nobody is perfect. If I do snack, I’ll have a rice cake with Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter or low sodium popcorn (which is something new that I started having). They are the absolute bomb.com. I highly recommend both as healthy snack options! Sometimes I might make some oatmeal with a little bit of coconut sugar and some unsweetened almond milk.
