I think a lot about how Boothill and Aventurine both suffered a similar fate, yet went down such different paths. How Aventurine wants to shield—how he shields his emotions—while Boothill channels his pain and love as his strength while wearing his own kind of mask. How that is reflected in their in-game path, too. Imaginary vs physical, the palpable. Preservation vs hunt.

Boothill chases his goals with a stubborn optimism while Aventurine is a lot more calculating about everything. They balance each other out; cover what the other lacks.
