Post-Vendetta!Chreon thoughts and headcanons:
Truth be told, I don't really know what to call this post because it's sorta a blend of a mini analysis, headcanons, and canon elements I want to explore in the fics I never actually finish writing lmfao.
Leon quotes Casablanca to Chris and paints them as Yvonne and Rick, which is a reference Chris seemingly didn't understand so maybe they watch it together afterward (that's my headcanon hehe), but either way that's a frame of reference for how Leon sees them during this moment
And while on this topic, Leon makes a lot of film references, and it's not contained in Vendetta either. He's a movie nerd! He quotes them frequently in casual conversation or makes references to them, but he also uses them for comparison when talking about life events. For example, he tells Chris that the Lanshiang mission felt like a "zombie version of Black Hawk Down".
I guess they could sorta be seen as star-crossed lovers because the BSAA and DSO hate each other. So even though by the time Vendetta takes place (2014), DADT was repealed and so weren't as many legal restrictions against queer military personnel, they still would've had "forbidden love" due to their organizations and also there would still be social ramifications of them being queer men, especially in the military/government sector. Because even after Leon was transferred to the DSO, which is outside of the military, government agents are probably not going to be all that accepting of a queer government agent.
Leon's shoulder was probably at least dislocated during Vendetta, so there was probably some element of a hospital trip after the mission especially considering Becca was infected too. And Chris got a little banged up.
Leon nearly died (by almost falling off that rooftop), and he was suicidal through the whole movie, but that's never really addressed in the movie either. The book goes far more into detail about his mental state, but neither brings up the fact that he literally almost fell off the roof
Chris is a recovered alcoholic (everything that happened with him in RE6), and that's part of why he got so upset with Leon at first in the movie version because it was explicitly stated in the novel that seeing Leon like that reminded him of himself.
And speaking of Chris, Chris just lost his team and Cathy White & her kids, whom he was close to, because of Arias so while the movie has a "happy ending" it was heavily traumatic for everyone involved 😭
Leon was both hungover from previous episodes of binge drinking and drunk when Chris and Becca got there so on top of him getting banged up on the mission, he's gonna have a killer hangover too. I hope Chris at least holds his hair back for him...
I post about Redfield in my pride month thing and just now I have received 7-8 asks about Chris and I. Just because we kissed doesn’t mean anything. I’ve kissed plenty of people but it didn’t go anyway. But fuck, maybe Chris will stay
