Knees bumping, sides pressed together, Engel hugged a pillow to his chest, resting his head on top as his eyes regarded Rintarou, who was sat beside him. Once they started sleeping in the same bed, it had become a hard habit to break. It was nice to actually be able to sleep, so why would Engel want to give that up?
Though even then he didn’t insist on it too often, because Rintarou had his own home to return to and his own life to live. Engel couldn’t just monopolize his time.
When he could steal moments though, he would take them.
Including when it meant listening to Rintarou’s 3 am thoughts.
The smile on Engel’s lips persisted as he listened to Rintaou’s rambling, not quite sure if the other realized just how disconnected all the thoughts he was spouting out were. His own feedback was varied, little sounds to show he was still listening and little prompts to get Rintarou to explain certain things a little more if it seemed like something very important.
Because he wasn’t really sure why Rintarou was debating on whether chocolate or caramel was better on top of fruit. It had eventually moved on to which kind of chocolate would be better and Engel could only laugh softly as Rintarou listed the pros and cons of each kind.
Sleepiness, actual sleepiness and not just tiredness, dragged at Engel’s eyelids and he picked his head up from the pillow to lean closer into Rintarou’s space. Tilting his head down a bit, he pressed a kiss to the side of Rintarou’s head, mindful of the way Rintarou was waving his hands around in his rambling.
Dropping his head onto Rintarou’s shoulder, Engel prompted him to keep talking, he was just going to get a little bit more comfortable.
“Why don’t... you just mix them...?”
Perhaps he could just make milk-chocolate covered fruit drizzled over with white and dark chocolate for Rintarou later...
