‘ what a pretty little disaster you will be ’ — @ harmony
Always in another ponies skin, Chrysalis would return from the Legion of Evil, so none would recognize her. So none would know where she went. Not that anypony was foolish enough to do such. Who would follow Chrysalis anywhere besides Harmony? She’d changed, ever since she started working with them. She’d become... Harmony didn’t want to say distant, but it sure felt like it. Everytime she came back she’d feel further and further away, even if she acted otherwise. The queen was used to putting on an act, Harmony always supposed.
But once they were alone, the strangers skin would be gone and it would be Crysalis, in her own chitin and buzzing wings. Crooked horn and fanged smile with her weird digits instead of hooves. The pony-changeling she’d met in the Deepmist Woods one spring after school. Throwing rocks around to relieve anger from the day had led her to meeting someling she would end up caring deeply about. And it felt like she was losing her. Not.. Not to say Chrysalis was hers, but sometimes, she hoped.
It was a quiet night, forelegs tucked to cradle her head while Chrysalis lays beside the pegasus. They hadn’t said anything today. Just relaxed. She was fine with that, Harmony didn’t mind reading while Chrysalis hung out. As long as she kept visiting. Her focus had been on the book in front of her, pages glittering when she turns them with magic. So when Chrysalis finally speaks, she’s almost startled. Almost.
Her words are said at barely a whisper, digits slowly threading through magenta locks of hair. But still, Harmony’s ear flicks to the left, to hear her better. Looses her attention from the book to go to Chrysalis beside her. The Changeling Queen doesn’t offer any further words, just continues brushing Harmony’s mane in that now deeper silence.
Harmony doesn’t know what to say in reply, so she doesn’t. But her emotions are a sour uncertainty, tinged with amusement now.
