a buddy cop comedy + a vigilante™ + ROMANCE D U H 

but who are the cops? you ask? 

dq and nayanthara

dulquer? he’s a sergeant/inspector 

lowkey a hoe [ofc why wouldn’t he be]; literally the exact opposite of his buddy; everyone loves him, he’s super cute, biggest Flirt™, has a girl (or guy) like every month

(his roommate sometimes has questions because dq tries to play so hard like he’s not just bringing a guy into his room)

“what no we’re friends?? yenna man solra nee, we’re going to eat cheetos and watch netflix whaat bro”

his roommate’s like ‘im not that old, i know what netflix and chill is’

it’s vijay sethupathi, lifelong bachelor™ because of terrible Love Experiences

is also a psych and criminology professor in the university nearby

like think Young Mysterious Prof and always wears a white shirt, a tie, and black slacks [every single d a y]

is 200% done with everything 200% of the time

it took his students half a semester to get him to smile at them

they warmed up to him after dq crashed their class once [he just wanted to meme]

he was forced to guest lecture as punishment and got roasted the whole time; prof sethupathi and dq became widely known as chief and lil chief 

he’s a [not really] secret big softie for his students now tho; gives everyone all the advice they’d ever need

dq bribes him to consult for his cases sometimes when he’s stuck

sethupathi hasn’t been paid in biriyani for like the last four but it’s not really about the biriyani at this point; he’s too weak for dq

the most recent case tho, dq promises is worth it

a series of heists that leave behind nothing but a publicly posted éxposé on the victim; the og case-dealers weren’t creative enough to name the suspect so they’ve been dubbed the ‘Editor’

until now they were businessmen, or socialites and were easily covered up 

but the most recent one has blown up beyond their control; one of the deans at sethupathi’s uni had been exposed for corruption and tampering with admissions, and a challenge left behind to catch them before the next one

sethupathi: ‘ugh i hated him anyway so what’

dq pulls out a letter from the chairman

sethupathi: pffft chairman thaatha listens to me

dq points at one word: “you get 2 months off TO SPEND IT WITH ME”

*sethupathi almost falls off chair*: HE’S SPEEDING UP MY TENURE PROCESS

dq: and you get 2 months off

sethupathi’s holed himself up into dq’s office within the first week and dq’s like bro the 2 months was with me not my stuff but ok also don’t touch my nintendo switch also you have to meet the rest of the team we’re all working on this together; huh you’ll actually get along really well with my partner-in-non-crime

*sethupathi chucks an empty folder at dq’s head*

speaking of his partner-in-non-crime: nayanthara bro remember nayanthara? 

she’s queen of kollywood the special crimes department

super bad-ass and literally no one knows anything about her backstory unless she says something

[and she tends to surprise tf out of them when she does– like she went to med school for two years? when the hell was that? sHE DID BHARATNATYAM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL? the SAME NAYANTHARA WHO’S CARRIES A KNIFE NEXT TO HER GUN ANd STASHES AN AXE AT HER DESK]

softie on the inside; tough as hell on the outside

is perpetually competing with local sergeant Rajendar and his partner Yogi Babu for to see who solves the most number of cases in a quarter tho [thanks again to DQ]

[Yogi Babu’s was DQ’s partner but they can’t be put on the same case anymore without doing something stupid. we don’t speak of Operation Makeout Stakeout]

she’s prepping for the case and walks into DQ’s office with files to ask him about stuff and walks in to see him leaning back in the chair with his feet on the desk 

and Sethupathi working at the crime wall. The Sethupathi. The same one from high school to college. The same one who Did That [do i mean Romance BackstoryTM you bet your ass i do]

this case just got a whole lot trickier. 

because nayanthara knows the suspect. and sethupathi does too. just not as the suspect. 

cause the suspect? it’s nazriya? her lil sister. 

what’s nazriya supposed to be doin? WILDING IN COLLEGE WHILE SHE FINISHES UP HER MASTERS like she told her sister she was 

when she’s not finishing up her papers for communication and investigative journalism, she’s supposed to be at a bar with friends or just out 

she even complained last week about getting carded even tho she’s like 23

thinks it has to do with her pink streaked hair [its cause she’s short]

nayanthara used to worry about letting her out alone, what with her prosthetic leg

but no she finds out her sister moonlights as the Editor 

how does she know? she caught her after the second heist because she was stupid enough to hide the neon green spray cans under her sister’s bed

has she said or done anything about it no; because nazriya doesn’t know she knows and hopefully there’s a way out

BUT NOT WITH SETHUPATHI AROUND TO DISTRACT HER

long story short: it keeps spiraling because suddenly nazriya offers to shadow her promising ‘free help’ on the case so that she can do her investigative journo project and guarantees she can help stop the heists from continuing [nayanthara: ya cause you’re the one doing it *scoffs*] at this point her lil sis is just screwing with her because she KNOWS she knows what she does but does she knows she knows she knows? plus how does she deal with cute prof sethupathi and suddenly dq’s tripping over his feet cause guess who hasn’t seen a girl like nazriya before and nayantharA’S TRYING TO GET HER SISTER TO STOP but who knows what’ll happen. *eyes nazriya to let us know what the last heist is gonna be*

S3. your favourite “grounding” activity (anything that involves using the hands/doesn’t involve “spacing out” or escapism - something like gardening, knitting, dancing, cooking)

Hmmm, a lot of stuff but cooking for sure! Especially when I’m stressed, I’ll try a new recipe. Also giffing if that counts.  I do this when I’m in meetings is doodle to keep me grounded so my notes are often filled with notes + a lot of doodles.
