Thinking about Venom+Eddie in the 2nd film choosing to save Anne by lowering her gently to the ground even while they get stabbed through repeatedly, vs Venom in the second movie gently placing debris to cover Eddie even while he's writhing and struggling to contain the xenomorphs inside them

Was thinking about the blorbos and the new lore than venom 3 introduced, and. Presumably codices are extremely rare, or the eddie/venom codex wouldnt be such a big deal, which suggests there's some kind of rule or even taboo against symbiotes reviving their hosts - it's never worth it, not if it risks knull awakening. So it would be discouraged for symbiotes to grow too fond of their hosts, because if the host dies they have to choose between the grief of losing a loved one or breaking this fundamental rule and risking the universe.

I'm not super familiar with the venom comics, but iirc the venom symbiote was outcast for wanting to form a healthy relationship with its hosts, rather than being a parasite. I've always headcanoned that as being true in the movieverse too, and that just makes it one step closer to canon!!

So I watched venom the last dance last night, so behold: my insane liveblogging

the way they work together in that opening fight scene!!! The way venom waits for Eddie's signal instead of rushing in, and throughout the fight scene eddie pops out to do some stuff before venom takes over again!! They're still a total mess, still arguing, Eddie's hungover as shit, venom's a softie for cute animals and over excited about getting to say "we are venom" etc..... things aren't perfect but their bond is so much stronger than it was at the start of ltbc, without that diminishing its underlying characteristics

-lore on where symbiotes come from and their purpose on earth (not necessarily to devour worlds like the first movie implies?? This changes things!!

-lore on why eddie was kicked out of new york!!!

-toxin!!!!! Fascinating that they implied mulligan had a symbiote already which abandoned him - what happened the that symbiote? Why did it abandon him?

-also fucked up that the hearing aid is hurting the symbiote and seemingly sending them into panic spirals honestly I hated mulligan so much but they're somehow making me feel.... bad for him...??

-big fan of whatever going on with dr pained and general strickland this is such an interesting contrast/complement to carlton drake

-please god let eddie keep his shoes he's suffering enough as it is

-kinda obsessed with the symbiotes being he/him and the xenophages being she/her. This sexual dimorphism is craaaazy

-it seems like these symbiotes from the meteor may have landed on earth specifically for defend the codex, but I wonder what that means for riot. Riot's motivations seem to be a lot closer to Knull's (destruction of a planet vs destruction of a universe)
