tswtnc enjoyers! may (@mayzini) has blessed us with more art! please enjoy the angst :D
that symbiote ask has so much angst potential, like a symbiote bonded spideychae that starts losing trust in the girls because they didn’t save her like they promised, the symbiote did. It starts to make her believe she can only rely on the symbiote, that its power is the only thing that can keep her safe. yoonchae turns to aggression, any criminals she deals with end up really hurt—anytime the girls try to reach out, she snaps at them, her words bitter as she attacks their deepest insecurities that she once would have uplifted. katseye can only watch as their sweet girl becomes exactly what she feared the most.
yeowch. can i add a sprinkling of my own idea into this...
the symbiote bonds to her while she's still at hydra (for the second time) and the others have no idea about it. what yoonchae knows is that she almost died and the thing that saved her was the symbiote. when she gets back, she's different, but the girls are thinking it's an effect of being recaptured—which it is, to an extent—but the aggression? the overly harsh responses to gentle questions? her suddenly inability to control her own strength? that's symbiote stuff.
she's not fully aware of what it's doing to her, but she knows she's upset with the others for not knowing either. none of them know she was on the brink of death and for some reason, that makes her really angry.
there's a part of her that's still her. late at night, staring into her own eyes in the bathroom mirror, she finds herself wondering why the hell she snapped at manon today. she beats herself up over getting too aggressive in sparring with megan, but in the back of her mind, the symbiote provides justification after justification. manon was being too invasive. you're perfectly capable of taking care of us. we don't need anyone else. megan would've hurt us first if you didn't do what you did. we need to keep ourselves safe.
hybe starts pulling her up for missions that she "couldn't handle" before. more dangerous ones. ones that look a lot like the ones she'd get at hydra. she comes back from them a little more fractured each time. she hates what she's doing but she can't stop. she's getting praised by hybe exces, but megan won't look her in the eye anymore and lara's stopped being gentle with her. only manon and dani are still trying to get closer to her, but even they're starting to falter.
one day, yoonchae overhears a conversation between the two of them. dani's telling manon maybe she's just like this now and there's nothing we can do about it. not everything is hydra. sometimes it's just yoonchae.
yoonchae's reaction—her real reaction—is utter despair. she's wrecked about that. the symbiote's reaction is you don't need them. the thing is, yoonchae's got a more flexible mind than most people. she's been brainwashed, unbrainwashed, and brainwashed again. she's got the clarity to realize what's gotten her to this point and she wants it out. but she doesn't know how to do that, and it's still got enough of a hold over her to stop her from doing anything too drastic. she tries a few things. none of them work. she starts avoiding the other girls at all costs. partly it's because she wants to keep them safe from her. partly it's because the symbiote is telling her she's better off alone and she kind of believes in that despite herself.
she feels like she's completely lost the version of herself that she was learning to love. the tricky part about the symbiote: she knows what it's doing to her, but she starts to believe there isn't a way back from what she's become. she thinks she might be a more useful asset if she lets herself be consumed by the symbiote. she never deserved a family anyway. this is how it was always supposed to go.
and because i can't stand an unhappy ending, i'd like to think that someone figures out what's going on. someone figures it out and they band together to get their yoonchae back
hellooo so I’m new to your blog and I’ve been reading many past posts and also am almost caught up on all ur posted fanfics (I just haven’t read all the one shots). First off wanna say that I absolutely love this idea and think it’s incredible. Like I love ur writing and it’s just an idea I would’ve never thought of.
I may be a little dumb here but I’m just a tiny bit confused and hope you can maybe clear the air for me. in the current storyline (at least on ao3 I’m not sure if you post full fics on here) the most recent chapter ended on venom appearing (who I’m presuming is spiderchae) and i saw a lot of talk about hydra and her being kidnapped. Basically what I’m trying to ask is: before she was kidnapped from that mission, was she in hydra and shield saved her, and recruited her for katseye or is the most recent kidnapping the first time she became affiliated with hydra (meaning all these posts are kinda referring to future spiderchae and her relations after they saved her)? And also how exactly does the venom thing work? Is it similarly to how the Bucky (the winter solider) who had trigger words and was coded to forget things/missions and was used by hydra or was it more like the red room (black widow) where she was trained as a kid and later escaped. Or am I totally thinking about the wrong ideas here as that’s totally plausible since I’ve never watched venom or any movies including him as a main villain, so literally have no idea how that stuff works. Sorry if this is confusing, I’m just lwk confused on the storyline stuff. Thanks and hope u have a good day! <3 :))
no that's totally fair, these posts are all over the place and i have not done a good job with this blog's navigation. but i'm so glad you're here!
yoonchae basically grew up within hydra and while she was in hydra as a kid, she was known as venom. when she was a young teen, around 13-14, she was rescued from hydra by manon and dani, became spiderman, and then in the main storyline, gets kidnapped by hydra again
ideas have been thrown out about the symbiote route, which i really enjoy, but i think i'm gonna be sticking with my original idea where venom is kinda like the winter solider. she has trigger words that force her in and out of the venom state at hydra. when she's under, she's aware of what she's doing, but she has to listen to their commands. it's kind of a winter solider/black widow hybrid, i guess? i hope that makes sense! i'm gonna link some posts that talk about spideychae/venomchae more...this isn't all of them, but i hope they help a little! and there's a bunch under the 'spideychae :(' tag that could help too. in terms of all the asks about spideychae...a lot of them are sort of vague as to when they're applicable. everything with her spider senses going wack would be post-hydra kidnapping part 2 (and same with all the 'future au' stuff, like her and megan moving in together), and anything with her being kinda skittish around katsvengers + warming up to them and whatnot is probably before the second kidnapping, but if there's anything specific you're thinking of, feel free to ask!
backstory? (ish)
how does venomchae perceive things?
hybe kept programming part 1, part 2
i hope that maybe clears some things up?? let me know if it didn't though :)
Y’know that scene in spectacular spiderman where Peter fights off the symbiote using a bell? spideychae bonded with the symbiote saving herself doing that same thing, she ends up hurting herself in the process with the loud frequency, and she’s kinda just stuck up there because she didnt have her webshooters. so she’s injured, extremely fatigued, completely alone and in her mind, the girls hate her now — no one is coming for her. meanwhile, the girls are freaking out because yoonchae is gone just when they realized something was wrong.
dude yeah wait. i love a bell tower.
she's so exhausted she can barely think, but there's one thing that just won't leave her mind and it's that no one is coming for her. after all she's been through, this is the thing that's left her motionless on the ground. she's waiting, yes, but not for anyone. she's waiting for her body to stop aching and start responding again, but it's been hours now and she can't move. her senses are all out of whack. she doesn't have her webshooters, like you said.
picturing one of the girls or the whole team finding her and the first thing her overtired brain can think to say is "i got it out, it's gone, i promise i'll be better."
by this point, they've realized something is (or was) seriously wrong with her, but they hadn't been able to figure out exactly what before they realized she was missing. cue her trying (half-delirious) to explain the entire timeline of what's happened to her, going all the way back to hydra
the katseye i-D magazine shoot keeps coming up on my dash and ive realized that yoonchae’s headshot is what i think of when i envision venomchae 👀 she just looks so tough
wait this is fire? i agree with you hardcore bug
Omg KJ did you see the new spiderman trailer? I'm so excited to see it in theaters!! also the part when Peter said he needs to figure out what's happening to him just reminded me so much of Venomchae lmfaoo
-🦈
I DID SEE IT I'M SO EXCITED TOO
lowkey it's good motivation for me to get cooking on tswtnc so i don't accidentally copy the supposed venomish plotline in the new one 😭
(p.s. your most recent ask is so so good i'm thinking about making a little snapshot out of it which is why i haven't answered it yet!)
