Karkat didn’t talk to very many people in his class. *Any* of his classes. And, largely on account of his lack of experiences with the *chatty cathy*s of the place, had yet to regret it. Not that hadn’t stopped him from meeting different versions of the issue elsewhere - like John. That guy was like the chatty cathy of the internet, pre-pokemon-esque evolution, or something. A tier down from chatty cathy, when the chatty bit was still negotiable and generally more avoidable.
Having been called up by the professor, Karkat ignored the buzz of his phone for a handful of minutes in favor of getting the run-down of the week, the physical copy of every assignment his teacher couldn’t be assed to make a *digital* copy of, and comments about some of the work he’d turned in the week prior. All very enthralling stuff, to be sure, though karkat wasn’t losing out on anything by the time another student dropped by to pick up the professor's attention.
Pulling up his phone, it was a bit of a surprise to see who the message was from. He didn’t exactly have much in the way of a social circle, but of the people he might have expected to bother him, John wasn’t one. He had to catch himself half way from looking around the room for the source after reading it - he didn’t have a fucking clue what the guy looked like, so it was a fruitless and kind of ridiculous effort on his part - but in his class? Seriously? Guess that made Rose part of their little group too.
This was feeling like the beginning of breakfast club 2 or something. He replied.
