What is best to determine compatibility, sun signs or Venus signs?

Sun sign for the most part. Venus is how a person wants their relationship, and how they will conduct themselves when in a relationship.

A person with a Leo sun can be incompatible with someone with an Aries sun, if their venus placements are totally off, like say the leo venus was in aqua, but the aries venus was in scorp.
