Verdego's once-mentor and last great leader of his people, the much-loved and so-called 'Grand' Dragon. He was murdered by Verdego in her youthful ambition as he stood between her and further conquest of human civilization. While his death turned her from the warpath and disbanded her empire, under her control the dragon council fell apart as dragons slowly left the world to planes unknown (an inevitable decline exacerbated by the upstart).
Four dragons (and life-long friends) who constitute some of the last in their particular world, being of the last viable generation as their ancestors slowly drift to other planes and their own world changes dramatically. They are all small for their kinds, and somewhere in the rage of 5,000 ~ 6,000 years old as of the modern era.
Verdego and Malphus:
Dragons can loosely be grouped into four types; terrestrial, aerial, aquatic, and polar. Both Verdego and Malphus are terrestrial dragons, although Verdego is only half (being half-human) and it is evident in her form here that she is in some ways only an imitation of her own kind. She is a skilled and wily shape-shifter, but compared to Malphus, her own dragon form takes some liberties through the shoulders and chest, as well as the hands and feet, that make her look somewhat ungainly. While she is a more adept shifter than she was in her youth, this form has 'stuck' for her, in the way a familiar piece of clothing is frequently worn.
Scythe:
While terrestrial dragons can fly, aerial dragons are far more at home in the air - smaller and more nimble than their counterparts. They were also the most numerous of all dragons, and the council often tried to play down their needs and accomplishments, dismissing them as able to live rather unique lives that exempted them from the trials and suffering of other dragons. This, of course, is untrue, and caused a tremendous rift of trust that even Verdego was unable to mend when she took it's helm.
Balados:
An endling in the way his friends are not, his family truly was the last of his kind, and with their deaths at the hands of Erinthal, the Dog of Kings, he alone remains. Polar dragons are bulky, hirsute, and unable to fly, using their wings as an additional layer of protection from the world's most brutally cold climates.
Malphus is the eldest of the bunch, followed by Verdego, Scythe, and Balados in that order. All of them are able to take humanoid forms, but Balados is the weakest shifter among them, and is unable to be passably human unlike the other three. While each has their own lives, they all seek each other out in times of crisis for comfort and support.
(Like... Where does this immortal go after her own world ends?)
She's one of my oldest characters, and currently in creative limbo, but we'll let her have a little jaunt to somewhere more peaceful for now. SHE'S having an existential crisis but she'll be fine.
