I’ll go ahead with Doflamingo/Monet/Vergo, because I really, genuinely, love these three together and like to talk about it, and it’s been a long time since I gave Monet any attention.
Ok, let’s get the obvious problem out there: it’s a poly relationship, and while I’m not suggesting these cannot work in the long run, it’s going to be fraught with a lot of issues. The biggest of these would Doflamingo and Vergo’s relationship, which would have been established over a longer period of time, versus Monet who doesn’t show up until their about twenty-eight. There’s also the competing for attention. Vergo’s out playing marine, left to hope he’s not forgotten while Monet and Doflamingo play with one another. There’s Doflamingo being selfish and expecting to be treated like a king, and so he’s got to harbor some issues for when Vergo and Monet spend so much time together, and once again, Monet must deal with the fact that she arrived last.
I personally feel that these issues are going to pop up quite a bit, and while not overly said, it becomes tragic because I don't necessarily think it’s ever going to be fixed. Vergo has spent a majority of his life worshiping Doflamingo, and isn’t about to change that by privately voicing his insecurities, and Monet is just about the same. Doflamingo places trust in his family, but if those two aren’t going to talk about their concerns, then it’s simply not going to be brought up. Why is this tragic? Well, two of these three characters do end up dead. Vergo and Monet both end up dying for Doflamingo, leaving him alone and without someone to rely on. Which is a big deal since he’s spent several years getting everything and thinking things would be alright, but now he’s got nothing.
(and then the Dressrosa arc happens and things get a whole lot worse for him.)
