Kakashi, more than likely. Iruka would probably try, but then by the end of the night, he's curled into a ball or something.

Iruka, because he has Super Important Administrative Duties to attend to. He probably wakes up Kakashi before he leaves, or shoves him out of bed or something.

Teasing nicknames, nothing serious. Iruka doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd enjoy a pet name, and Kakashi isn't really the sort to give them out.

Iruka would probably just... out front apologize and want to talk about it. Kakashi is really shitty with apologies, because he doesn't like them, so he'd do tiny quiet things to make up for it. Nothing verbal, though.

Probably pretty good! Both of them have very paternal instincts as it is, so I'd imagine together they'd form a very good parenting team. WHAT A LOVED CHILD IT WOULD BE. It'd probably be Naruto.

Also Iruka. And then he'd laugh but also be very flattered whenever Kakashi was, and tease him for being so soft. Nerds.

Kakashi would buy him these pencils no excuses. Iruka, I don't know if he'd really get Kakashi any gifts? Or, if he did, they'd be practical things. Like clothes.

Kakashi. Iruka smiles at all of these children all day every day he deserves more smile time than them. Damn these Toddlers.

Kakashi. But only to an extent. And most things he suggests will get shot down pretty quickly.

It'd be a pretty even tie. Both of them have lost things, but I think more often than not Iruka would top out as the more protective one, considering Kakashi goes out on dangerous missions and is an all around Fucking Idiot.
What would they have been like as childhood sweethearts?
I actually don't think they'd have been childhood sweethearts, to be honest. Kakashi was a lot different as a child, and I'm assuming Iruka's just always been a Sweet Honeychild so they wouldn't have gotten along until Kakashi began to mature. Maybe around the later teens. It'd still have been pretty awkward.
