Sitting on the examination chair, Beth looked around the cool, quiet office. Even though she always came to the same office for her check ups with Veronica, it was different this time and it was even more different to when she had last been here for the same reason. Six years ago, Beth had come for a confirmation ultrasound before she had even told her partner she was pregnant, but now, even though Beau couldn’t get the time off work, she knew there was someone on the other end of the phone she could call when she was done and holding the first picture of their little one.
Tapping one finger against the other, the only real sign of her nerves, as she waited for her OB-GYN, Beth took a deep breath. She was sure the test wasn’t a false positive especially as suddenly her almost constant nausea made sense, but there was always going to be that little edge of nervousness before she knew everything was okay.
