VERONICA HOPPER: AN AESTHETIC
“She is strong, but not in the ways most people think. She loves more than she’ll ever get back and she knows it. And yet, she loves anyway.”
CHARACTER PROFILE: ❤️❤️ VERONICA HOPPER
Veronica Hopper was in the hallway, smiling to everyone passing by. Everything about Veronica screamed joy, to her sparkly baby blue eyes and a bright smile on red lips. Somehow, her presence was comforting as warm as she was. Steve Harrington, who leaned on his locker with Carol and Tommy, couldn’t take his eyes off the golden haired girl. He never noticed her before, he didn’t even knew her name.
“Who is she already?” asked Steve, as Veronica chatted with a girl. The curiosty taken over him, she was bubbly, more than anyone in Hawkins. Almost too happy for a sleepy town like Hawkins.
Carol and Tommy stopped their conversation to follow Steve’s look. Tommy immediately turned his head to Steve, with an eyebrow raised while Carol rolled her eyes in an exagerated manner. “Thought you were into the Wheeler girl?”
Steve slightly hit his friend arm, looking at him disapprovingly. Tommy shrugged and quickly glanced at the Hopper. “Veronica Hopper. Pratically impossible to miss cause she’s our little Miss Sunshine. But I guess that you’re way too deep in Nancy’s panties to notice.”
“Shut your mouth, asshole.” angrily answered Steve. He didn’t like how Tommy spoke of Nancy, and his black eyes translated his anger.
“Chill, boys.” almost shouted Carol, chewing her gum loudly. She focused back on her two friends. Althought Carol enjoyed a little masculine rivalry, for once she was more interest in Veronica. Veronica, the perfect little angel that everyone loved so much, except Carol who loathed her. “She’s a little sweetheart but no one can be that happy. She’s like happy all the fucking time. Especially when so much shits happened.” Carol‘s eyes burned with rage and even Steve was surprised. Sure she doesn’t like a lot of people but never at this level.
Steve frowned. "Hopper like the Sheriff? And what shits happened to her?”
Carol clapped her hand sarcastically, a smirk on her lips. “Congrats Harrington, you’ve got the beauty and the brains. Unbelievable.” Tommy scoffed, crossing his arms and Steve rolled his eyes.
“Her sister is dead. Her mom left and there is a lot of stories about why she stayed. Her father is basically a mess and when the Social Service noticed, she had two choices: being with her mom or being in a foster family.” Tommy stopped, letting time to Steve to apprehend everything he told. “She chose to stay at Hawkins, obviously.”
Steve blinked, surprised. He wasn’t into gossip, he barely know any gossip but Carol knew enough for the three of them. He wanted to glance at Veronica again, as if it will confirm somehow everything that Tommy said but she was no longer there. “And she still smiling after everything?”
“All the damn time.” stated Carol with an annoyed look. “Like I said, without any doubts, smell fake to me.”
