Veronica Nelson always knew she was different. After all, it ran in her family line, thanks to her great uncle Kent. Special, her mother would call her. Gifted. But it was hard to believe that waking nightmares of tragedy were any kind of gift. Her poor brother fought to keep his telepathy to himself, and his ‘gift’ nearly brought the family to its knees. Veronica rebelled against it all in her teens—maybe that’s why she fell for Chris Smith, the wrong-side-of-the-tracks son of a vile white supremacist, so hard? Alcohol, drugs, sex. It was all fair game if it silenced the visions, or even just quieted them for a moment. Then when Chris—no, Peacemaker—was sent to prison for the foreseeable future, Veronica discovered the unthinkable. She was pregnant. Finally, there was an excuse to get away from it all. From the drinking, the drugs, him. Her older sister, a fairly successful lawyer in Metropolis, offered to take her in on one condition. Veronica would have to get clean, get a job, and get her life on track. And she didn’t hesitate to jump at the opportunity to escape the hole she’d fallen into head first. And, once she was clean, the visions finally stopped.

After four long, grueling years, she was a productive member of society. A loving mother, dedicated nurse. Then, one fateful night, she saw something that turned her blood ice cold—a man she didn’t know stabbed dead, Chris shot in the neck. It couldn’t be real. She was cured of her ‘gift’, after all. But it nagged at her incessantly and her grip on the life she’d built for herself and her son began to slip, greased by whatever twisted feelings she still had for a murderer. Against her better judgement and the wishes of her sister, Veronica transferred to Mount Rouge Health Center, leaving her son in the capable hands of her mother. It wasn’t long before Chris turned up—riddled with injuries that kept him in the hospital for months. After she knew he’d be discharged, she finished her shift avoiding any mention of him, and decided to stay in for the night. Until she got a distressed call from her niece. They agreed to meet at Fennel Fields to talk about what was going on. Little did Veronica know that a group of Amanda Waller’s lap dogs would be dining at the same restaurant, that he would be joining them, and she would be approached with a proposition by a woman who calls herself Shawshank.

thinking about all 3 of my dcu ocs in the same timeline and losing my mind. Charlie is younger than Percy and I feel like Percy would be lowkey maternal (obvi protective bc that’s her man’s little sister) but also she’d be like the sister that Percy didn’t get to have. both of them come from families with mostly boys, so they’d probably be menaces together and terrorize the checkmate office. adding in Veronica and she’s the Suburban Mom Friend™️ no one asked for but desperately needs. she’s older than both of them and neither of them can stand her bf but what’s a girl squad without a getaway driver? she’s also super busy working at the hospital so she’s the friend you see once every 3 months. Charlie is the only one with a kid but she’s The Baby, and that kid? that is now Our kid. Percy thought she’d be turned off by small children but she’s volunteering to babysit that thing every weekend. everyone tries to warn Adrian about what that could mean but he just thinks she’s being nice to his sister and nephew. but all of them get to go out for drinks every now and then with Harcourt and Leota, and it’s always a fun disaster. Charlie gets absolutely pampered on mother’s days. they all foster such a strong support system despite having such different lives bc they consider each other related as a joke (Percy and Adrian might as well be married by now, Charlie is Adrian’s sister, Veronica is dating Chris, and Chris is Charlie’s baby daddy so it’s like. a white trash circle of life.).

2. Do you think you would get along with your oc if you could meet them? What things would you talk about?

we would definitely get along! most likely we would be talking about our shit taste in men

4. Is your oc a daredevil, or more of a scaredy cat? What is the most daring thing they’ve done in their life?

I think I would say more of a scaredy cat, but it depends on the situation. the most daring is probably helping stop the butterflies.

6. How much thought does your oc put into what they wear/look like? Any reason why?

not really a whole lot, just because she’s never been much of a fashion person. she’s definitely a comfort over appearance person.

8. What kind of flavours does your oc like? How much spice can they handle?

she LOVES anything sour. I’d say she can handle a decent amount of spice.

10. What are some of your oc’s pet peeves? How do they handle it when the annoyance doesn’t stop?

loud chewing and making noises with your mouth in general. usually she tries to leave to get away from it and calm down.

12. How well would your oc handle being placed in a leadership position?

fairly well! her job requires it sometimes so she doesn’t shy away from it.

14. What is your oc’s speech like? How loud are they usually? Do they have an accent or a stutter?

she’s pretty quiet for the most part. she’s more of an observer unless what she says can help the situation. her voice is a bit low and it can take her a minute to really formulate a sentence sometimes.

16. How affectionate is your oc? How do they convey their affection? By being touchy, or through more subtle ways?

she’s very affectionate but she’s more subtle in public than in private. ronnie is a gift giving or acts of service type, so she likes to help people with tasks and give them things that are specific to that person to show she cares.

18. How physically strong is your oc? Is their agility or endurance better?

I would say her physical strength is pretty average. definitely better agility.

20. Does your oc have any favourite games to pass the time? What other hobbies do they have?

monopoly and the license plate game! she doesn’t really have any hobbies outside of work, but she does do tarot.
