This is so beautifully evocative and represents what I’d imagine Veronica is feeling at that moment at the end of her quest. She tries so hard to fight for change in the brotherhood, to get them to move past their isolation and join the new world. When they refuse, she decides to join a faction that IS trying to improve the state of the Mojave and beyond, and then discovers that no matter what, no matter who she could help using the lessons and secrets the Brotherhood possesses could help, they would rather see her and the people she wants to help dead than let that happen.
Veronica learns her touch is poison by association. Her face screams defeat and resignation amongst the bodies of the innocent and the ignorant that didn’t need to die. It’s heartbreaking.
