Basically a self-insert. Good karma, shy (at the start), a bit naive, sensible, quiet. I though it was funny to have a soft courier that becomes one of the most powerful people in the Mojave, kinda like that image of the cute kitten on that throne on fire.

Being a free bleeder must be very common in the wasteland since it's not that weird to have blood on your clothes. Also how do you even get pads and stuff

I've always wondered if the NCR General Uniform is a two-piece or a one-piece with a belt. It's probably the former, but I really love the idea of it being a one-piece, simply because I Iove the idea of Oliver having to strip all the way down every time he needs to go nr2.

I can just picture him panicking and sweating in the bathroom, frantically undoing his tie and unbuttoning his suit after having too much beans.

Ranger Eight reference

Born in Shady Sands to a family of farmers, Josiah was raised on a steady drip of pride and patriotism for the NCR. Perhaps he's bought into the propaganda of spreading freedom, but it's most accurate to say he's a genuine believer in the principles the NCR was founded on, and should be finding itself severely lacking in 2281 as the Mojave Campaign drags on. But for better or worse, Josiah is dedicated to the cause.

He became infatuated with the image of the Rangers during the First Battle of Hoover Dam, idolizing their skills and ferocity. From this moment on, he committed his life to this pursuit. From 2279-2280, he shadowed Ranger Goose, one of the remaining Desert Rangers, until he was fully accepted into the group, earning his armor and call sign.

First meeting with Goose did not go well! He was passed off to Goose for "training" by Hanlon, who had hoped this mean old goat would discourage Josiah from getting further wrapped up in the Mojave Campaign. Goose sent him to the hospital, but Josiah interpreted this as an initiation ritual, and showed back up a couple weeks later.

Eight is narcoleptic... and sometimes falls asleep at inopportune times (a condition he conveniently omitted during his enlistment). On the other hand, he is able to sleep through things that most other couldn't. But during his training he was certainly kicked awake more than once.

His family is deeply religious, something that informs his outlook and belief that he has a moral obligation to help others and fight against evil. However his beliefs are complicated by his own sexuality. He is terrified to come out to his own family as gay, but finds significantly more freedom and peace with himself in the Mojave amongst the Rangers.

Late in 2281, Eight was dispatched on a recon mission, from which he has not returned. Officially, he's listed as MIA in NCR records, but his mentor and friend Ranger Goose fears the worst, and will stop at nothing to see him home safely... or to avenge him. Whatever the cost.

I love Ranger Goose more than I can put into words.

Does he even know what a goose is? Are there geese in the post-apocalypse? The answer to both is probably not.

The answer to both is actually yes! :]

I had some ideas, so I guess this is as good an opportunity as any to talk about them.

Enclave "experiment" gone wrong like they always do, and released a giant mutant prehistoric bird into the wasteland.

The idea was to de-extinct the quetz by using living animal DNA to do some mad science with. Of course for the purpose of making a weapon, naturally.

I thought it would be fitting or karma at least to have it mutate from the Canada goose. So the remains of the Canadian Air Force can get some revenge on what's left of the USA, especially considering Fallout's alt history.

Basically there's a terror in the skies over the Lone Star State and they have no intention of leaving.
