Energy Soap, freshly cut. It's day five of our social distancing and my cats are thoroughly enjoying having all of their small humans home from school. Alfred, our biggest tom is busy sitting on my chest drooling non-stop. It's kind of gross, but he loves me and lets me pay his ears non stop, so I'm letting it slide. I am less enthused about having all of my children home for a further few weeks, but needs must. Stress + work + three children who never stop talking = me a bit fractious and mentally tired. I'm having trouble focusing on anything today, which is unusual for me, I'm usually pretty good about functioning in the middle of chaos, but I suspect my brain is stupidly tired and I might just need to give it a rest. Someone on twitter mentioned a cheese making YouTube channel and oh boy am I a fan. It's super soothing and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants something soothing and gentle to do with their brain. View from my work table Friday. It's been a long week. My mother, @kimfoaleceramics had a bilateral mastectomy on the 24th of May, and yesterday we spent the entire day in emergency while they sorted out her rapidly worsening infection. She's been admitted back to hospital for a few more nights, and honestly, it's the best place for her. It's been a long rough fortnight for everyone (mostly for her though). All of this, of course, means I am running on nervous energy and not a lot more. Orders will still be out regularly, but I'm running terribly behind on packing and labelling, so bear with me if you're waiting on new soaps to be added online. On top of that, my youngest who has health complications of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is on day 10? of being sick. I'm not sure what day it is honestly, but I may well end up with a stress response to coughing by the end of this. She's seen her paediatrician, she's fine, just has a gross upper respiratory thing and I am so tired. Emotionally tired mostly. I had really hoped she would be well enough to go to school tomorrow, but no luck. Anyway. I spent the morning packaging these gorgeous Cardamom Sandalwood into paper bands. Then my computer died and I've spent the rest of today resetting Windows and reinstalling all of my programs ohgodhelpme. Freshly poured Damask Rose soap. Hopefully there's a pretty pink and yellow swirl inside. This was a big batch (for me - 50 bars) and my wrists were complaining by the time I finished scraping out all of my buckets. It's been cool here for the past two days and the change in weather hasn't been kind to my bendy joints. I spent the day pottering around. I repacked all my market boxes, restocking what I needed, shrink wrapping new soap, making sure we're all set for the weekend. I also picked two fruit bowls full of nectarines, in the hope that we will get to eat some before the possums do. I ask what is the point of having two (2!) dogs if they can't keep the possums out of my fruit trees? Very annoying. My apple tree branches are all snapped and not very healthy looking. I made restocks of this gorgeous Fudge Brownie Soap a few days ago, and they've been sitting on my work table, waiting until I have the energy to move them to curing shelves. The benefit of this is my work room smells absolutely divine, and I cannot wait for the new version of this soap to be cured and ready. The next few days are predicted to be hot and sticky, with 35C predicted here on Sunday.
