This green dress was used several times in the 1940s. It was first spotted on Virginia Welles as Jean Mitchell in the 1947 film 𝑳𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏.   The gown later appeared on Gail Russell and Veronica Lake in promotional shots for Paramount Pictures.   The costume went up for sale @Bonhams1793 in January 2020, where it sold for $1,275. Veronica Lake: The Iconic Star Who Defined 1940s Glamour Hair

Happy Heavenly Birthday to Constance Frances Marie Ockelman, known professionally as Veronica Lake (November 14, 1922 – July 7, 1973),

Veronica Lake was prominent in films during the 1940s and became a fav for Diane Haughton (Aaliyah’s mother) growing up.

In the mid 90’s as Aaliyah was reinventing her signature style in music and fashion for her sophomore album, Diane suggested that Aaliyah style her hair like Miss Lake because the hair over the eye gave off a sense of mystique and sex appeal.

Aaliyah would then adopt this style as her own signature look. It’s said that even when Aaliyah checked into hotels, she’d use the name “Veronica Lake” to evade the invasive media of her personal space.

Veronica Lake passed away in 1973 at the age of 51 (before Aaliyah was born).
