luckily by virtue of removing this character from canon and toning down the 'superhero' elements, matt is pretty easy to have exist as i write him in pretty much any modern urban-based setting. i will generally just use a loose crossover verse if it's easy for matt (+ daredevil) to exist in your character's canon cuz as long as there are evil capitalists running things at the top of the world and getting other people hurt because of it, matt can be a slightly-superhuman vigilante & lawyer in opposition to that. beyond the ease of this generic crossover, here are some other verses i have ideas cooking for w/ brief synopses provided. please click the links for more info!

final fantasy vii -- blinded by mako as a child, matt lives in sector 5. daredevil is infamous in his sector but relatively unknown beyond that.

pokemon -- matt has aura abilities a la lucario and lives in hammerlocke with his team.

cyberpunk 2077 -- tba. i just want him in night city cuz it's awesome

star wars -- matt was a padawan but left the order before completing his training. he lives on coruscant and operates as daredevil to try and battle the ongoing corruption of the senate in the wake of the rising empire behind the scenes.

clair obscur: expedition 33 -- this is more of me hand-waving him into a sort of historical setting than me placing him within the setting of the game. if you've beaten the game, you know what this means! make sure to blacklist "e33 spoilers //" if you care about this.

blade runner -- can be set anywhere in the timeline. matt is a lawyer who also helps forge papers and passports for replicants to help them maximize what little time they have (esp if the 4 year lifespan is applicable)

jonathan byers is a sensitive kid. his classmates think he’s weird. so what if he doesn’t like recess? his favorite days are library days, he sometimes forgets his quarter for a carton of milk. he swipes crayons from the shared bin for his brother to color with. he’s not one for going to other people’s houses for playdates. jonathan byers expects it to be this way his whole life.

this is a verse that was started from an ask prompt, but i don’t mind writing in it more. it’ll mostly be for teens and adults, because the kids would have been FOUR to SIX between the years this verse takes place. don’t be afraid to im me if you want to write in this verse !

STEP ON UP TO POWER PLACEMENT

ELECTRONIC DISRUPTION: jonathan has the ability to upset or completely stop electric signals. before understand his powers lights tended to flicker when he entered a room. this ability is still slightly erratic, leading students to not be a fan when the vcr goes haywire on the days they get to watch a film.

ELECTRICITY DETECTION: he relies heavily on his ability to sense electrical impulses. having a sixth sense can lead to a bit of a headache considering most things, including the human heart, have jonathan’s senses dialed to eleven.

ELECTRICAL GENERATION: he can’t summon lightning, but he can give someone a good zap with the shake of his hand. useful for when the power goes out, which is usually his fault anyway.

WHAT’S YOUR STORY ANYWAY, KID?

every good story, and bad one, usually starts with a villain. lonnie byers was not a good man by any stretch, but he was jonathan’s father. which meant he inherited these...supernatural abilities. around the age of twelve he would be frying appliances and making lightbulbs go haywire. by time it was time for highschool, his mother put him on a different kind of bus.

jonathan didn’t grow up with superhero parents who taught him the importance of discovering his powers, so power placement wasn’t his proudest moment. he made the lights flicker ! that’s it. sidekick rang out across the gym, his fate for highschool sealed.

it’s not like byers was a good name to have at sky high anyway, lonnie off in hiding somewhere. what kind of man uses air manipulation to suck all the oxygen out of someone’s lungs? yeah, that guy is jonathan’s father.

once graduation hit, jonathan thought he would be free from the torment that was sky high’s halls, but coach boomer just happened to assign to many people the label of sidekick in his year. what was he supposed to do? mope around at home until he got a call? now he’s stuck in his worst nightmare: gym class for a lifetime (unless another teacher calls out sick) and coach boomer makes him wear a baseball cap...at least they let him advise yearbook.
