general trek verse probably sees dan in medical with a specialty in operations? there's no real need for an orderly on a starship anymore, so i think he just tries to utilize his strengths wherever he can.

she lets out a small laugh, rolling her eyes and waving her hand. "me ?? nervous ?? oh come on, i don't get nervous." alright, so maybe dennis was lying through their teeth right now, but they had to !! they had a certain appearance to keep up, after all. sure, nadine had seen them at their lowest before, but they had to appear confident for this. it was a date after all. a real date with nadine ... that she was desperately hoping she wouldn't screw up. "i'm excited, not nervous. don't get them mixed up now."

ㅤㅤshe presses her lips together, trying valiantly to stem the tides of her laughter. it's the exact opposite of a serious situation, which is precisely what makes it funny. and elena, the little shit that she is, can't manage to see it as anything other than humorous. can anyone blame her though? everyone knows the more you're not supposed to laugh at something, the funnier it becomes. still, she coughs, covering up a laugh as she tries to change her expression to stoic. ❛❛ right, of course. i'm sorry for laughing, ❜❜ she responds, hoping she sounds serious. ❛❛ can i help? ❜❜

ㅤㅤher lips pull down into a displeased moue, well aware intimidating isn't exactly an adjective easily, or ever, applied to her. but damn it, she feels as though she's earned the label of at least somewhat intimidating after everything she's been through and all the training she's done. it was likely meant to be more of a joke than anything else, perhaps she's being teased, but it seems to be more of a weak spot than she'd originally thought. ❛❛ appearances can be misleading, ❜❜ is all she finally says, trying not to let it bother her.

ㅤㅤshe finds herself returning to harvelle's roadhouse often, the bar the closest thing she's ever found to a home base of sorts since losing her family. it comforts her, being surrounded by kindred spirits - even if a big chunk of them are big gruff tough guys. she often has difficulties getting them to take her seriously, but elena's nothing if not stubborn. she doesn't necessarily pick fights, but she's been known to start one or two if properly provoked. she comes in peace tonight though, and thanks to her smaller stature, she weaves easily through the crowd to reach the bar top, ordering her usual when she finally gets there. she automatically surveys the room, gaze pausing when she spots @tobeblamed. he looks familiar, and it only takes a moment for her to remember his name. grabbing her beer, she moves down a few seats, plopping down on the one next to him. ❝ sorry to bother you, but you're dean winchester, aren't you? ❞

ㅤㅤdespite the more solemn mood in the room, the words make her smile. she's been so accustomed to being alone after losing her parents that the reassurance is a balm to her nerves, wrapping around her like a warm blanket of comfort. while their introduction had been rather nonconventional, eliza's presence had become a blessing. the huntress hadn't realized how lonely she'd truly become over the years until she'd had frequent companionship again. sometimes she worries what would happen if she ends up alone again, but she tries not to let those thoughts choke her. ❝ i know you do, and i really appreciate it, ❞ she responds softly, smile still alight on her face. ❝ you know i have yours too, right? ❞

Curious eyes, wide and bright blue, blink out from under a mass of soft, ebony curls. He doesn't seem alarmed by the sudden presence of @observingly , simply drawing up his footie pajama-clad knees to his chest and hugging them, looking at him steadily.

The room is huge, the bed enormous, but he keeps to the very end of it with stuffed animals and books neatly spread around him, trying to take up as little space as possible. That's the only indication of what this little boy's future has in store for him, according to Ziggy: raising his siblings (who aren't even a gleam in his parents' eyes) before he's in double digits, balancing an addiction along with his class schedule, and so much pressure that it's a miracle he doesn't break sooner.

Right now, though, that's a lifetime away.

"Hello." He smiles, all politesse. "Are you here to read to me?... I tried, but... I don't know some words." Suddenly shy, or perhaps embarrassed, he hides his face as best he can, but can't help sneaking another peek at the new arrival.

Yet another thing I’ve been thinking about is how different Sam is in the verses where he never left and the verses where he’s come back. Especially in the verses where he never left, he’s very goofy and silly, far more sure of himself and with more of a take-charge, no-nonsense attitude. He’s still very sweet and empathetic, though, that never changes.

When he does come back, I’m throwing canon a little bit out the window with their “reverse Swiss cheese effect” thing. I think Sam does remember everything that’s happened, though it’s jumbled, and it's clearest most when he’s dreaming, having a nightmare, or when something triggers him into having a flashback. Similarly, he’s never going to be that person he was prior to leaping again. He’s changed too much to go back to exactly how he used to be, but he does have the potential to get a lot of his old self back, and supplant it with newer, better aspects as well.
