All the Doctor wanted was to bring Rose to Barcelona.
That didn't seem too horrible, did it? It wasn't a hard request. He wanted to show his companion dogs with no noses and enjoy the Dr. Seuss-inspired architecture.
But, as always, the TARDIS had different ideas.
He was just programming in the coordinates when the TARDIS gave an almighty jerk, tossing the Doctor and his companion to the ground.
"Whoa okay, alright!" He yelped as he hurriedly dragged himself up, trying to grab the console and pull it back under control. The TARDIS responded by sparking wildly, and the Doctor ducked to avoid take a shower of sparks to the face.
And finally with one last jerk, the movement stopped. "Blimey," the Doctor muttered as he pulled himself up, looking over at Rose. Wherever they were, it probably wasn't Barcelona.
Noseless dogs and Seuss architecture would have to wait.
He pulled his coat on, taking Rose's hand and pulling her out towards the door. He'd be lying if he said a part of him wasn't excited. The TARDIS had brought them here for a reason after all, and he for one was excited to find out what that reason was.
The world waiting on the other side of the door was unlike anything even the Doctor had ever seen. The colors were all just slightly off, as if someone had turned down the saturation, and a fine layer of fog had settled over the area.
"Well I certainly don't think we're in Barcelona," the Doctor murmured as he looked around. Something was off about this place -- very, very off. And it was niggling something in the back of his head.
Okay. New plan. They'd go back to the TARDIS and see what they could figure out from there before exploring any further.
With that thought in mind, he turned to pull Rose back into the blue box -- and was stunned to find that his beloved ship was one.
