Once Upon a December
If you were ever interested in getting out of St. Petersburg, everyone in town knew exactly the man to come to. Find the theater and the man inside could forge the paperwork to make travel out of Russia a possibility. Once a boy growing up in the kitchen of the former Tsar, now he made his living searching for a way out and a way to grant himself access to the reward the former Tsarina would grant to anyone who could possibly return the lost princess back to the family.
A large sigh heaved in his chest as the latest woman attempting to learn the role of Natalia Romanova stepped on stage, dropping the coat as she went about her audition. Sitwell should have been returning at any moment with lunch and taking over the process.
All they needed was one woman…one perfect woman who could pull off the role of a lifetime and make them all richer than they could imagine…rich enough to bring an end to the conman life he’d been a part of since his family had escaped the palace when he’d been a boy.
The frustrated grunt from his partner on stage called his attention back as Jasper stormed away from the latest audition. “I cannot work with her, James.”
It had become almost the same routine after every audition; not a single one of the girls were ever just right to play the part they needed them to play. Each and every one of them always had something wrong or something off.
None of them were ever just right.
“Relax, Sitwell, she’s out there somewhere,” there had to be someone out there that would be able to save them from the mediocre lives they’d been living. “I know she is.”
They just had to find her.
