@musesforthedamned liked for a CLOSED STARTER
despite the book that's been propped open in her lap, she hasn't turned a page in well over twenty minutes, eyes having gone hazy as she becomes lost within her own mind. it's only a gentle touch to her ankle that's drawing the woman back, hues blinking several times before finding focus on the straggly strands that halo an all to familiar face. the one that kept her sane between bouts of forced cryosleep. "you need a hair cut," she murmurs, leaning forward, pages crumpling as her chest presses against her legs, fingers moving to push a lengthy strand of brunette locks behind his ear.
katherine stays close for a moment, lips pursing before she's leaning back into the couch cushions once more. with how stark has decorated the room, it's almost easy to forget that this isn't the 40s. that they've both been lost in time and faced horrors that so often swim in the back of their minds. "do you remember that dance hall?" she murmurs, breaking the silence several minutes later, brows furrowing slightly. "the one in london? we went while we were on leave, right before..." right before they were deployed to azzano in '43 and taken by HYDRA. "i just... i remember talking about stevie." it's so long ago that the conversation has been fractured into bits and pieces, only dragged to the surface by the music that's been prattling on softly in the background. "all those things we talked about doing once we were home." how many had they missed out on because of the passage of time? from what steve had told her, dance halls were a thing of the past and what had taken their place were hardly appropriate for the blonde to venture into if the mans stuttering and blush had been anything to go off of. "i don't - i don't want to miss out on anything else."
