V; Dragon - Infused (FF7)

Sylvestre Lesage was a scientist working for Jenova who was convinced that the power of summon materia was one that could be given to humans through materia infusion. Instead of only being able to call upon the spirit a certain number of times, and instead of being at the whims of what the spirit decided to do to help, humans could instead take the power for themselves. It was their right, after all, and the process would be so very simple. 

The materia simply had to become part of them.

Bahamut was the first summon chosen for the experiment, and it was deemed a failure rather quickly. Subject after subject died from the immense amount of mako poisoning that resulted from having such a powerful materia implanted directly into their body. He was becoming the laughing stock of ShinRa.

On the verge of being fired, he made the decision to allow his own son to be used. Dion was the result of an affair he had with a local prostitute, so it wasn't like it mattered much if he died. And putting up his own flesh and blood would prove just how devoted he was to ShinRa and how much he believed this experiment would eventually work.

Dion took to the Bahamut materia... almost unnervingly well.

It was as if he became Bahamut. He was granted immense strength with only one seeming draw back: Dion could no longer remember his name or who he was before the procedure. He knows what he has been told, but that didn't bring the memories back. This worked to Shinra's benefit though, as they could mold him into the perfect weapon.

The success of the Bahamut materia opened up the gateway for other experiments. Any summon materia found by ShinRa was sectioned away; Ifrit, Shiva, Titan, Ramuh, the Phoenix.

Dion's strength grew, but a nasty side-effect of the experiment began to show in the form of something Sylvestre dubbed 'priming'. Until bouts of extreme stress, the subject's body would begin to morph into something closer to the summon's true form. For Dion, it showed no sign of actually harming him physically, resulting in him becoming difficult to contain. It was clear he was rapidly becoming more of a liability than an asset, though Sylvestre refused to hear it.

This ultimately backfired on his father as he lost control one day during a training session and breached containment. The facility in near shambles, Dion fled.

He now roames from place to place with a bounty on his head. The Shinra soldiers orders were clear: Bring Materia Subject 001: Bahamut back.

My FFX verse is simple.

Tatsumi.  Summoner.  Djose home temple.  Although I do go back and forth a little on making him Guado.... so in that case, Macalania is more obviously suited.  But something about Djose is very important to me here so that’s what’s keeping me out of it. 

Hinata & Yuuta.  Al Bhed.  They’re going to be the absolute best blitzball players you’ve ever seen.

Souma.  Guardian definitely, but I haven’t decided if summoner Keito or Kanata.

Mayoi.  Mixed race Al Bhed.  Ask me what this means if I write anything about him & Tatsumi because whew.

Rei.  All you need to know is he is definitely, totally, soooo not unsent.  lingering regrets who

Primary - The Man with No Plan and the World in his Hands

Illinois Jones, oft regarded as ‘the luckiest man in the world’, a man who always seems to find adventure and treasure without even trying. A man whose renown matters little compared to the joy of discovery and exploration. This is his story.

Illinois Jones was born lucky. His parents always said so, as did his teachers and his friends and, as he grew older, his peers. Illinois Jones was just born lucky.

His car always had just enough gas, his bank account just enough money, and his timing is always just right. Growing up he heard all about the opportunities lying ahead of him. A steady, well-paid job with a steady spouse, in a white picket fence neighborhood surrounded by the people who had always known him.

Instead, he went to college and immediately pursued a degree in archeology, majoring in history as well as minoring in mythology. He was fascinated with what knowledge there was of ancient, lost places and their artifacts. As soon as he was able, he got an internship and struck out on his first big adventure.

The ‘adventure’, of course, was altogether very dry and dull. Nobody got into any trouble, nobody would go anywhere without a partner and a plan. Baby steps and absolute care and caution were the name of the game. Illinois grew impatient with the monotony of following all their rules and decided he would strike out on his own.

And he was correct, of course. Things happened much more quickly - and in far more exciting ways - when one was alone and acting purely on gut instincts. He stumbled off the beaten path and down a secret passage in no time at all. There he found a crystal orb, an odd relic which seemed to absorb all light immediately around it, yet still gleamed temptingly from its pedestal.

He found himself drawn to it like a magnet, climbing carefully up to it and reaching out fearlessly to gather it into his palms.

He… doesn’t know what happened next.

The next thing Illinois is aware of, he awakes in that lost chamber. The orb is nowhere to be found.

His body aches, but he still finds it in himself to pick his way back out of the ruins. The crew he had come here with is gone, camp packed up and missing. Old scorch marks from fires and holes in the ground from tent posts are the only signs they had ever been there.

Illinois thinks that perhaps he should be more upset, but… Instead, he feels a tugging to go elsewhere. Adventure was Calling, and he surely hated to make it wait.

He never did make it back home again, but each time he finished an adventure, it never took much time at all for another to start pulling him along. Partners came and went along the way, but he quickly learned that the best way to go it was alone. Few were capable of the kind of luck needed to survive his lifestyle.

If some of the ruins started looking or feeling the same after a while, he chalked it up all too easily to similar historical backgrounds, and marveled at how widespread some of these cultures somehow managed to be. He studied each one’s history as passionately as he explored their halls.

And if sometimes a man in red crossed his path, asking odd questions and making odd comments, he chose not to think too hard about that either.

Life was one big, never ending adventure. Why sweat small details like never aging or limitless corners of the globe to explore? Why question when even the globe could no longer limit his explorations?

[really trying to contemplate Val’s mental state through various times and verses

pregame, she is having her doubts, she is sneaking around behind Knoth’s back, but she isn’t a full blown heretic just yet. she does little things, like stealing paper meant to write down Knoth’s teachings and using them to write her journals about these doubts she’s having instead. She’s thinking. She is on the brink of change, just about to push past it.

During the game, and especially once she’s covered in mud, she is at her peak. She’s flourishing in the chaos, she’s full of excitement.

Immediately post game, she’s knocked back down. She doesn’t understand why god isn’t talking to her anymore. She doesn’t understand how this new god could let all of her devout children die at the hands of Knoth’s cultists, in a parallel to the way Knoth’s god had forced her to kill all of the children she had been fostering which had made her doubt that god in the first place. She is angry and betrayed and realizing it’s all the same shit and maybe there is no difference between her god and Knoth’s god.

In my usual crossover postgame verse, where she then attempts to reenter society, there’s a growing hope again. She’s coming up with plan b’s and plan c’s, rethinking her ideology, trying to fit it all into her new understanding of the world. Her mindset now is very very similar to her pregame mindset.

And then my Outlast 1 au, where the order of the games is reversed and she ends up in Mount Massive after attempting to reenter society; She is knocked back down. None of her plans worked out and now she’s worse off than she was to begin with. She is very very bitter and angry at this point.

But, then the riot at Mount Massive happens and the entire asylum falls into chaos. She’s once again nearing her peak. Everything before this was a test. She is back in her element. God has not forgotten her.]

verse 1: being human: galan is the human friendly sized form of galactus, forcibly shrunk and stuck on a planet with his power cosmic dormant. his hunger is the only thing that remains unchanged and unchained: he will eat pretty much anything, at all hours of the day. he is unfamiliar with the planet’s customs and society but is trying to adapt, and is plunged in an overwhelming, fully immersive ‘human’ experience without a choice.

verse 2: it’s a small world:  galactus is not confined, but chooses to shrink and disguise himself as galan in order to interact with smaller beings, since he has managed to channel and contain his power cosmic through smaller accessories so he does not require his suit of armour at all times.

Verses

Hi, this is a post on the various verses (other than canon). Actual skin verses will be using Riot’s established lore plus my own added stuff. The rest are kinda my own spin on Quinn in the respective verse.

Phoenix Quinn: Wanting to understand more about the world, Quinn and her beast companion Valor decided to live life among the Targonians for some time. Hearing tales of the Ascended and the perilous climb that was Targon. Curious and determined, Quinn and Valor began the climb. The climb was beyond anything the two had faced and, with only a few paces until it's peak, Quinn collapsed and nearly tumbled off the mountain. Valor, tired as well, used the last bit of his energy to save Quinn from certain death and pulled her limp body to the peak before collapsing himself. Things seemed all for naught, Quinn staring up at the heavens that silently watched. She reached up, longing for something to answer. But, at first, nothing came. Then the heavens burst open in a bright, burning display. Before Quinn and Valor was the Immortal Flame. Judging the pair worthy, Quinn and Valor were empowered by the legendary Phoenix, becoming the Aspects of Rebirth.

Woad Scout Quinn: Member and main scouts of the Woad tribe, Quinn and Valor are the last thing the enemies of the tribe will never see. Part of an alternate universe Freljord, Quinn serves valiantly for her tribe, helping in any way she can. Valor was a pet gifted to her by her mother after a successful rite of passage to become a scout.

Corsair Quinn: Pirate for hire, keen eye even with only having one, and a damn good shot, Quinn left Demacia at a young age for the Islands of Bilgewater, wanting to seek out true freedom and prosperity. In recent times, she’s usually seen working with Sarah Fortune, but has taken side jobs for other aspiring pirate crews and

Heartseeker Quinn: Yeah no, sorry. I got nothing.

Modern: Former military ace pilot and soldier turned commercial and private airliner pilot, Quinn lives her life as best she can from her one bedroom city apartment. Valor is her pet falcon she occasionally takes for walks/flights.

Odyssey Quinn: Pilot for hire and lover of xenobiology, Quinn found her dreams among the stars at an early age. Her and her twin brother Caleb originally began training themselves to be conscripted into the Demaxian Empire to see distant stars from their coreworld home. This came to an abrupt end after getting in the midst of a crossfire between the Empire and the Syndicate where Quinn was injured and Caleb killed. With her brother and only friend within the empire dead, Quinn gave up the dream of joining the Demaxian ranks and instead became a pilot for hire and something of an alien tracker, capturing and trading alien animals off to the highest bidder. One such beast she couldn't possibly depart with was Valor, a juvenile skyscreetcher with a noble, albeit pompous, disposition.

Lunari Quinn: Born to a father who was a Lunari blacksmith and a mother who traveled from the Freljord and settled at Mount Targon, the twins Quinn and Caleb were an inseparable duo. Each grew up studying the history and traditions of the Lunari, though Quinn preferred the martial aspects while Caleb preferred the spiritual ones. Where Quinn became adept in bows and crossbows as well as other weaponry, Caleb became well versed in Scripture and prayer. Caleb had tried several times to have Quinn study more about the spirituality of their people, though such lessons never seemed to fully take root. While she believed in her people's ways and fought for those beliefs, she was simply inept in the ways of spirituality. Quinn had become a tracker for the Lunari in adolescence, primarily being tasked with missions to find suitable hideaways and points of interest for the Lunari, as well as the occasional search and rescue mission should any of her kin become captured by the Solari. Early into her young adulthood after some years of service, Quinn was tasked with retrieving a moonstone that had been confiscated and hoarded by the Solari. Caleb offered his assistance, wanting to personally see such an artifact brought back safely. Quinn had denied the request, but Caleb persisted until she finally caved and allowed him to come along. Locating the moonstone among a variety of other Lunari contraband that had been apprehended by the Solari, Quinn and Caleb moved silently to recover the precious stone. It was Caleb who originally retrieved it, while Quinn discovered a bird she grew an immediate fondness to: a lunar osprey that had been imprisoned in a cage of gold. Their moments of pause to admire their bounty proved lethal as Caleb was stabbed in the back by a Solari guardsmen. Quinn cried out as blood soaked the pristine stone. Dispatching the guard, Quinn released the bird from activity, retrieved the now stained artifact, and absconded. While her mission was ultimately a success, Quinn was found guilty for negligence and ultimately the death of her twin brother and one of the Lunari's prime devout pupils. Quinn made no plea for mercy nor forgiveness, instead hanging her head in the shame and guilt she carried, expecting her own life to be taken as payment. But instead, she was made to find atonement and reconciliation through further service. No longer a mere tracker, Quinn had been made to serve the Lunari without question as an assassin until such penance has been paid. Quinn still carried that guilt within her, but now with a desire to atone for it. Although she was guilty, all those who served the Lunari were precious. So to ensure she lived while she worked alone, Quinn was granted use of a crossbow crafted from the moonstone that was stained by her brother's blood. Whenever she wasn't on a mission, she would study, meditate, and practice her people's spiritual traditions. So many nights, she trained herself to seek the moon in the night sky, even on cloudy nights during full moons where she would meditate for hours, staring up at its face, trying to see all it offered her with her bare eyes, straining for hours on end, trying to absorb as much as possible. Eventually, such strains lead to blurred vision which she took as a sign. Ceremoniously, she gave her eyesight in a spiritual sacrifice to the moon to further her penance for the life she was responsible for losing. Eventually though, her spirituality blossomed and a kinship grew between her and the lunar osprey she had freed. He quickly became her eyesight that she had lost, a connection forming deeper than what could be seen on the outside. Naming him "Valor", the two now continue their service to the Lunari as assassins of their faith, Quinn living a life seeking penance not just for the crimes against her people, but the guilt that still laid heavy in her heart.

Verses; Descendants AU

I just realized I don’t have my verses pages up yet for my characters, so this’ll just be a basic explanation!

Auradon Kids

Caoilainn O’Shaughnessy: the daughter of a bandit from the Snuggly Duckling, Caoilainn is as wild as she is beautiful. After the isle was created, her father joined the Auradon guard, but he was sent to the Isle of the Lost as punishment when Brian attacked a minor noble who he saw abusing his wife and daughter. Before he was taken away, he hid his daughter at a convent, promising her that all the trouble in the world was worth helping someone in need. At Auradon Prep, Caoilainn is more of an outcast, still clinging to what she learned at the convent despite how the world is changing.

Annushka Barinov: The daughter of the Spring Sprite (Fantasia 2000), Anya is a sickly girl whose health declines with the seasons. When her parents do not become reborn after the winter, Anya is believed to be the next Spring Sprite— with all of the responsibilities that come with it. She speaks mostly Fae from her mother’s Castle-schooling (AKA she was homeschooled) but she takes English at Auradon Prep, with the hope that she can learn to take on the roles of her parents.

Isle Kids

Lucille Delancey: The eldest daughter of Chernabog (Phineas Delancey in his human aspect), Lucille and her brothers are all half demon, with small semblances of power that can creep through the barrier— but too much use makes her more demonic in appearance and sensitive to sunlight. Whereas her brothers have their own aspects of their father’s power (Oscar can command demons, while Morris has divination abilities), Lucille has the ability to charm people as a succubus. Since their father spends 365 days of the year and 364 nights asleep underground on the Isle of the Lost, Lucille has been the one who kept her brothers out of trouble. Because her power is limited on the island, she has to spend a lot of time in Auradon just learning how to control the full amount, especially when it comes close to her father’s awakening.

Sarafina Tomlinson: The daughter of the red knave, Sarafina was literally raised around cards, and she has the poker skills to prove it. Charming like her father, and ready to turn on anyone at any time, Sarafina’s life on the isle was mostly keeping her father’s bar running and fleecing people in street games, most of the time using sleight of hand to take what she needed. In Auradon, she pretends to behave herself, but she’s always got her pack of cards ready for whenever she needs it.

Violet Snyder: Stepdaughter of the Sheriff of Nottingham, Nigel Desmond Snyder, Violet was raised on the isle of the lost due to the fact her mother had married him prior to the isle being formed, and the family was banished to the isle together. A lot harder than her canon counterpart, Violet has been raised to take what she needs to survive, no matter who she has to hurt to get it. If given the chance, she would go to Auradon and never look back, although the temptation to return to her usual ways comes and goes.
