The "Creator's Comment" note next to Asterope indicates that they're specifically basing Pinky's Persona off of the Hesperid Asterope, not the Pleiades Asterope (although it's still possible that that factored into their decision in the first place, heh):

In Greek mythology, she is a nymph who lives in an orchard, one of the Hesperides. She lives in Hesperides, a paradise at the western end of the world, guarding the golden apple tree. Her name means "shining starlight".
