I had the very good fortune yesterday to add drummer extraordinaire Chris Frantz’s autograph to my vintage Japanese pressing of Talking Heads’ “Stop Making Sense” soundtrack, as well as a fave 12” remix by his other band, Tom Tom Club. He appeared at the Westport Library in Connecticut as part of its inaugural VersoFest, discussing his autobiography, Remain In Love, from a year or two back. It‘s a fun book, which I actually read and reviewed for my magazine last year—a generally upbeat and surprisingly fond recollection of the Heads’ heyday. As for the library, I was very impressed with the preparation and effort that went into the event; between having presented at hundreds of libraries and being married to a library director, I have a pretty good idea of what that must have entailed, and it appeared to come off without a hitch.
