My favourite place in Scotland
Here are my tips and advices to discover Loch Lomond, Britain’s mainland largest lake
During my trip to Scotland this summer, I went to a very beautiful place: Loch Lomond, located in the Tossach National Park. Since I was staying in Glasgow, the easier way to get there is the train direction Balloch. But my advice is to not stop there, and take the bus to Luss or Balmala instead: it will take you away from the artificial shores and the crowd.
Luss is a charming little village, very appreciated by tourists but still quite authentic. It is so appreciated by the locals themselves, that with a little bit of luck, you may even see a traditional wedding with the groom wearing a kilt!
As for Balmala, situated on the Western Shore, a footpath starts there to have a majestic panoramic view of the lake (on the picture). The climbing is tiring, but I swear you will not regret it!!
Bon voyage!
