i recently started re-reading the hoo books and i honestly think that 7th grade me was seriously overlooking jason as a character. i was super indifferent towards him and his chapters and i'm not saying he's like my new favorite or anything but there's just so much more there than i acknowledged or noticed the first time around. i mean this is a boy who saw just how much chb cared about percy and how many people were looking for him and all he could do was wonder whether anyone at camp jupiter was doing the same for him. the closest friends of his we see are ones he made post-amnesia like leo, piper, and even nico. and the closest relationship we see him have with anyone from camp jupiter is reyna and even that wasn't explored too much. and throughout hoo he continues to choose to be a son of zeus and to belong to neither camp which ultimately leads to how he was spending his time when we see him again in toa. ig overall i'm just saying that i'm glad im re-reading this because i definitely did not give jason enough credit before and he's a way more tragic character than i thought.
