@veryotl haha, yeah, I won an Irish dance competition/pageant sort of thing for little kids when I was about nine and the prize just happened to be two tickets to the show that year! I was very lucky, as in later years the competition winner would just get a trophy. Even more lucky was that the show I got to see Flatley in was Feet of Flames, not Celtic Tiger, hahaha

(I say pageant bc we had to answer some questions for the judging panel as well as dance. I distinctly remember the question they asked me was whether I preferred the Backstreet Boys or *NSYNC. Since I was a very pretentious child and thought both were lame, I was very offended by the question. Apparently my scandalized reaction helped me get bonus points lol)

(1)So at one point I used to work at a zoo and during my work period they got an exhibit with animatronic dinosaurs. I wasn't the biggest fan of the exhibit cause it was kind of loud and lots of kids screamed, but it wasn't a big deal cause I worked there once at the beginning of the exhibit and the manager didn't schedule me to work it again until one of the last days the exhibit was at the park. The place we were stationed was right at the end, after the 7000 pound T-rex that roared and shook.

So because I didn’t really get to work the exhibit, I only heard talk, and there were some funny rumors from the other workers that sometimes, there would be a creepy chord that would play before the t-rex would roar. I never got to figure out what it was until that last day, when it was raining and no one had been by for an hour, and then suddenly I heard…The old mac startup noise. Apparently every other worker who I had talked to was a PC user and didn’t know that the dinosaurs were being run by a program that would sometimes shut down and restart. It was just so hilarious to hear a computer start up followed by this ridiculous roar that I’ve never been able to take dinosaurs seriously since.

Okay no but love letter showcase was the PEAK of my caratdom like... that showcase was... transcendent

RIGHT they haven’t done anything quite like it since, like performing almost every song on the album, starting with chuck, DOING THE SHOWCASE BEFORE THE MV DROPPED SO THE FIRST TIME WE EVER HEARD PRETTY U IT WAS A PERFORMANCE, like dude
