The final hours of the last day of Christmas were ticking away, and the workshop was finally quiet. The massive piles of wrapping paper, ribbons, and leftover toys were cleared.
For the first time in weeks, Bobette wasn't running around at maximum speed trying to fix everything herself.
She sat on the edge of a wooden chair, looking down at her hands, the usual bright, cheer she forced herself to maintain all season felt heavy now. She looked tired, her shoulders slumping as she anticipated the lonely months ahead where she would have to tuck herself away in the dark until next winter..
"Hey.." [name] said softly, walking into the room with two steaming mugs.
"Last day of Christmas huh.?"
Bobette looked up, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Oh! [name]... I was just... making sure I didn't miss anyone's gift. I have to make sure it's perfect..."
"It is perfect"
[name] interrupted gently, sitting down right next to her and setting the mugs aside.
"But you're exhausted, Bobette. You spend the whole year worrying about making everyone happy and taking care of everything! but you never let anyone take care of you..."
Bobette swallowed hard. The emotional weight of feeling so unappreciated and isolated all season began to crack through her cheerful mask.
"I just... I hate feeling like I'm not doing enough. And tomorrow, it'll be over and I'll have to go—..."
Before she could finish, [name] suddenly wrapped a soft, heavy blanket (where did you get that from? Idfk fanfic logic ig-) around her shoulders and pulled her into a warm, tight hug. Bobette froze for a split second, unaccustomed to being the one receiving comfort. Then, she let out a shaky breath and melted completely into the embrace, burying her face into [name]'s shoulder. The crushing loneliness she had carried for weeks finally washed away.
"You don't always have to hide away you know..?" [name] murmured, gently rubbing her back. "Even when Christmas ends, I'll always be with you, you're appreciated, Bobette. More than you know, me as well as the other Christmas toons will always be here to listen.." Clinging tightly to [name], Bobette closed her eyes, letting the quiet warmth of the room protect her..
because right here in [name]'s arms, she was completely safe, cherished, and finally at peace.
