sorry for my absence. if you have sent me a request that i've been sitting on, please feel free to send it to another writer. i have been struggling to write lately and don't want you to wait on something that i may never get to

more personal whiny tumblr dot com commentary stuff under the cut:

i frequently find myself feeling like i need to take breaks from logging on to tumblr lately. i don't know if i'm just a more sensitive person than i used to be, but seeing drama and negativity on my dash (that's not even directed towards me mind you, everyone has always been very nice to me and i am extremely grateful for that) really fucking bums me out. i just want us to all get along and hold hands and read and write fic. if you don't have anything nice to say, please consider not saying it at all

that being said, i've also been having a hard time engaging with fic the way that i used to, both writing and reading it. i have never been a prolific writer, but i have been feeling particularly uninspired lately and it sucks. this is supposed to be a fun hobby for me, but to a certain extent i do feel some sort of potentially imaginary responsibility to consistently post writing on here

comparison is the thief of joy or whatever, but lack of engagement when you're not a writer who can pump out multiple fics a week honestly doesn't feel good. that coupled with the amount of people i still have to block because they think they're above my MDNI disclaimer is genuinely incredibly frustrating. at the end of the day i do write for myself, but the best part of sharing fic is the community response and talking about The Character with people who love them as much as you do

if you read a fic that you like, please at least reblog it. fic writers share their work for free and want people to see it. reblogging a fic can make a world of a difference for engagement and lets the author know that someone out there liked what they wrote. even better, add a comment or a tag or take a second to message the writer. i never take any reblog, tag, or comment for granted. they seriously make my day and are a sweet reminder that at least someone out there likes what i'm trying to do

additionally, the amount of AI discourse i have been seeing recently is disheartening at best. quite frankly i spend a lot of fucking time writing the fics/blurbs that i post on here - i am not a machine and i don't pretend to be. it sucks to see writing that is very clearly generated or at least enhanced by AI get thousands of notes while real, earnest work can be largely ignored. it's also a terrifying thought that AI use does not have to be disclosed and there is always the potential that i could inadvertently engage with and subsequently support/promote work that includes AI. if you use AI or knowingly interact with AI content, please just unfollow me. i will never condone it and i don't want to see it in any capacity

i don't know what i'm trying to say here other than please remember that there are real people behind these blogs and this is supposed to be a fun space for people to engage in fandom culture. in my opinion the point should be community, not commodity. i sincerely appreciate everyone who interacts with me on here and anyone who has ever engaged with my fic. you mean a lot to me and i hope we can all be here for a long time <3
