kidnaps him so they can go get a drink together, even though he's generally the one most enraptured by his so called occupational endeavours. ( who do u think lmao )
Clutching his scarf to his chest, Leorio stumbles after Kurapika, tugged along in his wake. With damp, frosty flakes falling around them, glittering on the asphalt as they land in pools of light, the atmosphere is appropriately attuned to the season. However, Leorio resists in spite of his secret pleasure.
“Wait, Kurapika, I can’t just—”
The hospital gets busier during the holidays, it seems. Doctors and their interns don’t get much rest, and no amount of tinsel and holly taped to the walls can change that. Still, Leorio enjoys his work and doesn’t mind the long hours, has never minded dedicating his time to their efforts—but he presumes his attitude is not universal, given Kurapika’s brazen behavior.
He pockets his scarf, recognizing the futility of trying to wind it around his throat one-handed while in motion. The end tassels flutter against his hip.
One drink. Kurapika had insisted, and Leorio had wanted so, so badly to surrender, to abandon his post and flee. But he’d hesitated, sparing a glance back at the bright hallways and bustling nurses, and fought to find an answer.
By the time Kurapika finally slowed, they stood before a cozy nook, dimly lit but baring a radiant warmth. His hand was released, and Leorio focused on catching his breath.
“Just one,” he managed to say. “But then I have to get back. They actually need me tonight.”
He holds open the door with a chivalric smile, concealing the twinge of guilt that strikes him. Leorio won’t apologize, not because he is insincere, but because he believes Kurapika wouldn’t want that.
“Maybe we’ll have New Year’s Eve,” he suggests, shrugging off his still-unbuttoned jacket. “Let’s hope.”

a gift extended; within concealed a rather lavish watch. A few days prior they had wandered passed the store and leorio had whistled, a clear indicator that he was impressed. So, taking this as a cue kurapika purchased it for him.
As though mechanically inclined, Leorio accepts the box. It’s plain but neat, a style which suits Kurapika. The slender ribbon tied around the package is a stylistic touch that would shock Leorio if such a detail were to be considered anything but mundane.
“You didn’t have to get me anything,” Leorio says. For once, he’s sincere, yet he’s already opening the gift, tugging at the bow-ends. He pauses. “It’s not, like, the heart of some big bad mafia dude, is it? Because as romantic as that would be-”
As he slips the lid off the box, bracing himself (not for what lies within but for Kurapika’s retaliation), he squints at the glint of light off metal. The sight shuts him up.
“Kurapika.” He holds the watch before his face, unsure of which emotion has seized control of his features. “I don’t think I can... accept this. Do you even know how much these cost? Dumb question, I guess, but...”
He feels his skin flush, burning with a pinkish tone from his neck to his hairline. Rejecting the gift isn’t really an option; he doesn’t want to offend or earn Kurapika’s wrath. So he nods his acceptance and aligns the watch with his wrist, marveling at effect.
Extending his arm out toward Kurapika, he raises an eyebrow. “Care to do the honors?”

Leorio peers over his glasses. In the dim glow of his desk lamp, he can barely discern the features of the groggy man sprawled beneath the blankets. With a quick glance at his watch, Leorio smiles.
“You’ve been out for twelve hours,” he says. “Guess you needed it.”
Draping one arm over the back of his chair, Leorio allows himself to rest from his studies. The text has begun to blur anyway.
“Besides, I’m the only one willing to make you sleep,” Leorio says, somewhat accusatory. “So I guess I’m flattered that you listen.”
