This Memorial Day: Honoring Our Fallen by Empowering the Living – ALA Offer
This Memorial Day, we remember those who gave their lives in service to our country — and honor them by supporting those who continue to serve our communities.
The American Lifeguard Association is proud to announce our official recognition by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As of April 16, 2025, the American Lifeguard Association is named in VHA Directive 1040, a national policy that establishes water safety certification standards for all VA medical and recreational aquatic facilities.
This federal directive positions the American Lifeguard Association alongside the American Red Cross and a select few national organizations authorized to certify lifeguards and aquatic therapy staff serving veterans across the country.
