Louisville Zoo Receives Veterinary Anesthesia Machine Donation From Vetland Medical
Goal Is To Improve Animal Anesthesia Machine Development
In an effort to continually improve, innovate and refine their veterinary anesthesia machines, Vetland Medical has partnered with The Louisville Zoo.
By observing surgical procedures and anesthesia equipment in operation at the zoo – a place where the safety of many endangered species is a top priority and a place where there is an abundance of large animals- the company could study the problems the doctors may be facing which, in turn, would influence new product development for Vetland Medical.
The King Of The Jungle Undergoes Anesthesia
Vetland Medical contacted the zoo and soon had an appointment to be present for a procedure on a lion. While there, we learned the zoo was utilizing a veterinary anesthesia machine that required patients to be manually ventilated.
The Vetland Medical team knew how challenging it is to manually ventilate a large animal such as a lion and decided to help. That same week, Vetland Medical donated one of our Large Animal Anesthesia Machines to the zoo and promised to work closely with them to provide technical services and support. In return, the Louisville Zoo has helped Vetland Medical by allowing our team to observe and learn the various challenges a zoo faces while providing care to the wide range of patients.
State Of The Art Care
The Louisville Zoo’s hospital supervisor, Jamie Huber says: “The Vetland anesthesia machine helps us provide state-of-the-art care for our animals at the Louisville Zoo. Whether for a regular check-up or treating a sick animal, our new anesthesia machine gives us the access we need to treat our animals with the highest quality care.”
