You probably just googled, “VEYM” or “TNTT,” trying to find more information on a group your friend is in or maybe you’re just in TNTT, and you’re one of the remaining few young people who’s still on Tumblr. I’m glad you’re here, and I invite you to read my posts about my experiences in this youth movement.
I know, I know, “Who still uses Tumblr?” Truth is, it’s an easy website to use to distribute stuff like this. I digress. Let me first start off by saying that I am a Huynh Trưởng. I have been one for five years. Everything I’ve written is from a Huynh Trưởng point of view. I’ve grown up and have learned many life lessons inside of Thiếu Nhi Thánh The (TNTT) also known as the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement (VEYM). One of the best things that TNTT has to offer is the advice you could receive from older Huynh Trưởng (leaders) inside. It’s great, but the truth is, you can earn this benefit in any other group. Now that I’ve mentioned what TNTT has to offer, what do you have to offer? Volunteer time and free labor to reach very noble goals:
To educate and to train youths in becoming a better person as well as an excellent Christian.
To organize and to guide all youths in spreading the Good News of the Gospel and to actively be involved in working for the good of society through charitable services and helping others.
I mean, assuming you’re a practicing Roman Catholic, how can you argue against those goals? You really can’t, but you can argue against the methods used to achieve those goals.
I want to share my experiences with this movement, and hopefully, I can provide some value to those who are researching this movement and would like to learn more about it. I must preface that my experience mustn’t reflect everyone else’s and I do not wish to speak on behalf of anyone else or the movement itself. These are my individual experiences, and you must remember that.
Two things, I do want to let you know:
Nostalgia can be a powerful tool to get people to do things. I’ll discuss the methods and reasons why people feel like they owe something to this movement.
If you’ve never experienced any of the things written here, consider yourself lucky and continue to do the same things you are doing in your đoàn. You’re blessed, but I do invite you to read on and know the experiences and truths of this movement.
