SuperVGBoy's Media Log Drawings

I'm doing what almost everyone else is doing, and cataloging + rating all the shows, movies, and games I've watched/played fully this year. But to spice things up, I'm also drawing 1 character from each game/show/movie as well as a bit of a challenge.

Ratings are on a scale of 0 to 5.

i HAVE THE FINAL SAY OF WHAT I WATCH/PLAY FOR THIS THREAD AND I AM NOT TAKING REQUESTS FOR THINGS TO ADD OR CHARACTERS TO DRAW. More info and the rules I'm giving myself on what I'll choose to draw below

My Self Imposed Rules For This Drawing Thread:

For Multi-season shows, it's considered a Full Watch after 1 season

13 episodes counts as a "season"

No duplicate characters. I can't draw the same character twice, not even in a different look/artstyle.

No crossover characters (If they came from another game that isn't the same series, they don't count)

Priority List:

One-Offs (Only appear in the one thing and nowhere else)

Side Characters*

Main Characters*

Enemies/Grunts

*If any recurring character had originated from what I'm reviewing, they shoot up to the top of the priority list.

Something I've noticed is how DLC talk has been getting very quiet as the games got more expensive. Almost as if people are less likely to spend more on top of a bigger entry price.

With the crockoid enemies obviously giving Kremling vibes, A part of me is thinking that if K. Rool is going to have any involvement in Bananza, it could be in one of two ways:

Return from Hiding: - He's alive and well after the events of Returns and Tropical Freeze but most of the Kremlings may have become endangered or extinct in the time passed, and he's attempting to revive his army with the Banadium and is just in hiding as usual with Void Co. being just Kongs he's holding hostage (or gave false promises of shared wealth)

Return from the Dead: - Pretty much the same as the former but he's actually one of those golden zombie Crockoids, and Void Co. dug him up and revived him, mistaking him for an ancient diety with promises of wealth. He gets fully reanimated and fleshified in a completely golden body Maybe Pauline is a key component because her singing allowing DK to transform could also apply to potentially re-animating the crockoid corpses back into full-fleshed Kremlings Also her being a teen is probably not that deep, being either time travel shenanigans or some de-aging side effect of getting turned into Odd Rock. TL;DR Potential K.Rool involvement in Bananza revolves around him reviving his kremling army w/ help of Void Co. (who may or may not be willing to) The "plothole" of Pauline's younger appearance is explained through *magic*

After hearing a moot complain about one of their favorite 'mons being worse in their original form compared to a newer regional form they bring up a valid point:

Regional forms aren't exactly a buff to older pokemon like some people say

You can't switch a pokemon's regional form. A Meowth caught in the Kanto games can't change to Alolan Meowth. Your only option is EV train a new Meowth from scratch, and make sure it's an Alolan Meowth, too!

Compare that to Mega Stones where you can simply swap hold items and you can improve a pokemon no matter what generation you trained it in. With one Slowbroite, You can Mega Evo a Kanto Slowbro, a Johto Slowbro, a Hoenn Slowbro, or an Alola slowbro. The region doesn't matter, how long you've used it doesn't matter, what game it came from doesn't matter - if it's a Slowbro, it can Mega Evolve.

See the issue now? Regional forms can't be interchanged like changing a 'mon's held items so they're like a soft reboot of a pokemon rather than a true buff.

Also something else I've noticed is that regional forms have slowly been designed as "definitive versions" of Pokemon lines rather than being designed like "alternate playstyles"

In Alola, not much changes between regional forms besides move/ability pools to accommodate the different typing and maybe a minor stat change.

But when we get to Galar, we get all sorts of wild stuff added to regional forms, but hardly any equivalent buff for the original form

Galarian Zigzagoon gets a third Evo, while Hoenn Zig is still two stage.

Hisuan starters get cool signature moves and beneficial Hidden Ability changes, but no similar move/ability addition added to the home region forms (that aren't Decidueye).

Sneasler. Just Sneasler as a whole.

The most balanced modern regional is arguably Clodsire: same secondary and hidden abilities as Quagsire, same # of Evo stages, both forms seem to hold up gameplay wise. More regional forms should be designed like it!

If newer regional forms have more than the base form, give the base form the same treatment

If Galar Zigzagoon can get a third Evo, the original region's Linoone should get a third Evo too.

If the newer regional form has a better stat spread, update the home region form to have a stat spread identical but with more emphasis on what the regional's stats lack

And yes, if Sneasler can have Dire Claw + Poison Touch, Weavile should get a "frost claw" equivalent and a "freeze touch" ability too!

Hot Take: there needs to be more remasters/remakes of actually bad games.

I don't just mean games that are okay, I mean games that are widely considered unplayable or un-understandable in their first released console/handleld. Games that had a below 50 overall user review. The idea of taking an old game, updating it with improved gameplay/graphics/etc. is neat for already well known games, but imagine what it could do for games that released in the wrong time/wrong place/wrong state Imagine a once dogshit game/series being a big hit in present day with a proper and thought out remake. I wanna see games that had rushed development be given the full time to be fleshed out. Give me old games that can thrive because they're not on hardware that was too limiting. Show me what more knowledgeable devs would do with this old game that had little thought or testing go into it's development back in the day Also, even if the (competently developed) remaster itself is actually not great, at least it becomes the "least bad" way to play this once reviled(?) game.
