yyy. as if you haven’t already lost enough control, they want to take away your right to reaction too.

actual comment on my wall post about the theft: " I realize you're dealing with a shitty situation, but I really disagree with wishing death on someone" (goes on to scold me about wondering whether someone stole my bike to sell for drug money in a city where this is a regular occurrence because that might hurt some hypothetical junkie's feelings and obviously that is my main concern right now)

because you must always care about the feelings of people who have hurt you and obviously don't give a shit about yours, otherwise you are a Bad Person

back when we lived in chicago and were super poor and dealing with a shitty immigration situation people stole from us all the time, people who were in the same boat as us except that they weren't foreigners with an accent and therefore were super excited to finally have someone they could look down on

this is bringing up a lot of memories of that and i think that's part of why it's hit me so hard
