Let's Go! Imma try this solo 1st ever. Soup Dumplings! Yum! Been craving.
Oops! This is what I get for not packing a coolerbag when I went shopping even tho I know how VERY long a drive it was to get home. So much for not making the whole bag!
Hot water soak to loosen where they froze together!
Only partial tho, the block is because the dough got soft but didn't release- it was gonna rip right off the frozen filling and as these are SOUP dumplings that's super bad!
Getting there. Lightly fried the frozen dumplings with oil, then added enough water to roughly half cover them (displacement was wonky from the Block).
WARNING: Adding any temp water atop hot oil WILL spit like a lava spout-- keep that lid between all of you and the pan!
Almost done! Got pretty big!
(And they call these "minis"! Can't quite imagine how hard it would be to eat bigger ones- gotta keep the Soup from escaping, and all!)
I hope the block cooked thru, it's still Very Stuck-- poking it showed the dough is too soft to not rip, as suspected.
Water still there but not much.
Should I attempt to flip the Block? I know these are super fragile to eat so best not risk it.
A tester because I'm impatient. Hey, where's the soup?!
Also def not quite done look at the dough...
At least the thermometer said the center was hot enough to be safe to eat so any more cooking is just Finesse and Finishing.
Well, this definitely confirmed that one whole package is way to much for just me in one sitting. Not terrible results otherwise.
Entirely edible, block mostly came apart with some poking and minimal trouble. Flavors are good thank-you friend who helped me choose.
I'll call it a successful experiment, albeit Too Bountiful considering no one else in the house will eat them...
