inspired by my wife's irl habit of blasting right through tutorial text/expositional dialogue as fast as possible

spent tonight doing lots and lots of WoL sketches. good news, everyone: i got to the golden saucer!!!!! and i have decided yuwa is picking up shifts there because i say so

i've also gotten to the point of the plot where you're making a bit of a name for yourself and are generally pretty well-known as an adventurer, which for yuwa means droves of lady admirers who bury her in baked goods and hand-embroidered handkerchiefs and other favors. she is utterly oblivious to the intentions behind these gifts. viat, on the other hand, knows exactly what those intentions are and is running back and forth like a goalie radiating the darkest "I WAS HERE FIRST" vibes they can muster

!!! i don't have much lore yet bc i'm coming in miraculously pretty much 100% unspoiled so i don't know. like. ANYTHING about plot but!!! her name is yuwa and i've already decided she's from sharlayan... tense little scholar who's lived and worked at an academy pretty much her entire life and only recently set out bc, as much as she has genuinely enjoyed being a scribe/academic assistant, she wants to bring back new knowledge and discoveries of her own rather than just copying down stuff other people have figured out forever and ever. so far it is not going super great because before setting out for gridania she'd never spent more than 8 hours at a time outdoors in her life

(luckily my wife has created a chipper wandering viera named viat [any pronouns, leans they/them] who has latched onto her immediately. yuwa misinterpreted a "you look like you need a bodyguard ;)" pickup line by taking it 100% seriously and now they're traveling together)

anyway yuwa is trying to research Hero Statistics. (what percentage of fledgling adventurers actually go on to do something notable? what factors affect this? is there a correlation between class/job and future prospects? etc etc) which is why she's currently running around doing fetch quests, For Data, and as we know this will lead to her + viat getting wrapped up in Plot Stuff and becoming the Specials

also fun fact yuwa is privately obsessed with chocobos. she gets really really excited any time there's an opportunity to rent a chocobo porter. none of this excitement shows on her face at all you just end up seeing her powerwalking very very intently toward the chocobokeep. she's been too nervous to actually try petting one yet but every time she rides one if you watch carefully you will catch her letting go of the reins to do a hoverhand at least once
