Shaw Communications is looking for a buyer for ViaWest, the U.S. data center company it bought three years ago, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Canadian cable company continues to shed assets it considers non-core.

The sale of ViaWest would be Shaw’s latest step to streamline its operations. Last year it sold its media assets to sister company Corus Entertainment…

Downtown Vegas: ViaWest Acquires CoreLink Data Center

ViaWest just announced they are acquiring Corelink's downtown Las Vegas colocation facility.

Corelink's 1.2 MW facility is located next to ViaWest's 2 MW data center on Carson Ave in downtown Las Vegas. ViaWest recently announced plans to build a new 10 MW data center in North Las Vegas.

Lots going on in the data center market in Las Vegas. Zayo acquired the Marquisnet data center in January. And Switch, Cobalt, and pair networks have all announced construction of new data centers in Las Vegas.

Time-lapse video fans, this one’s for you. Managed hosting provider ViaWest, Inc. recently built out its newest data center in Richardson, Texas. Data center operator Viawest has enterprise-class facilities in Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Nevada and Texas. The video runs 1:17 and covers several weeks of work, but there is no soundtrack (perhaps something along the lines of “Yackety Sax?”)
