Yesterday I spent the afternoon visiting with a precious friend. We cuddled in blankets on opposite ends of the sofa, drank coffee, snuggled with the dogs, enjoyed a cozy fire, and talked in an open real, honest and vulnerable way. As one who pours into the lives of others: mentoring, teaching, discipline—this was such a gift! An opportunity I don’t often get. Friend, never underestimate the importance of being an active listener. One who loves and hears the heart of someone else—not “to fix it” but to love. And never underestimate the need to be blatantly honest, raw, and vulnerable with someone you trust. These are treasured gifts. Sanctioned and honored by God.
