Hey y’all! We kinda fell off the bandwagon with the excerpts daily, but we’re gonna stop doing that anyway - I’m back in class for college, and I’m a little busy for a daily commitment. However, enjoy this one! I’ll still post them occasionally!

Excerpt 

“Dragons!” he repeats, gesturing widely. Morrigan sighs. 

“Is he always like this?” she asks, looking at Micah rather than Ellie, which is just rude, he might add. Come on, man, they’re dragons. They’re cool. 

“Pretty much,” Micah answers, like a traitor. Ellie purses his lips, but follows when everyone decides the conversation is over and it’s time to leave the apartment building. He has to obsess over dragons and joke and try to continue being real because if he doesn’t, if he thinks about Jillian for even a second too long, he’ll crack apart. In the elevator, Jax bumps their shoulders. Ellie bumps him back. Jax doesn’t do it again, but it’s a good reminder that Jax is there, that Micah is there, that all of them are there. It’s a good reminder that Ellie isn’t alone in this. 

“Why don’t we go to Vic’s? Someone there will have the most recent intel on where the nearest dragon is putting up shop,” Jax suggests. Morrigan turns to consider him, but by the time the elevator stops, she’s just nodding. Ellie looks at Jax.

Hi, I'm not sure who your OCs are, but I'd like to know what their names and favorite colors are. ^_^ If you have a lot, just list five of them. :D

Thank you for asking! I’m going to do the main character cast of Hyacinth Rising, which is eight characters, I hope you don’t mind!

Elliot Isaac Kappel - mostly known as Ellie: Blues, really any blues. He’s partial to navy blue and ocean blue. 

Micah Angela Ziskind: Deep purple. It doesn’t really get more complicated than that. 

Morrigan Bellona Santos: Black, probably. She’s kind a hard ass. 

Jackson Williams Santos - only known as Jax: He would never tell anyone, but Jax really likes pastels, especially the trans flag. He’s not trans, but both his sister and his sibling fall under the trans umbrella, and he’s pretty fond of the flag. 

Hazel Diana Santos - Hazel or Haze: Yellow! She also likes orange and really anything that makes her think of summer. 

Lucky Faeschild: A light, spring green. They aren’t much for intense colors. 

Victoria Elizabeth Maina - usually Vic: Deep red. It’s the only color she wears besides black, grey and white. 

Henry Vincent Ziskind: Forest green. All of his ties are forest green.

7: Describe your OC’s fashion sense.

Morrigan. Morri wears long jackets even when it’s hot because they make her feel longer and more feminine. She likes to wear dark clothing because it helps her fade more in New York. She always wears running shoes because she’s all about the practicality, but she can be talked into ankle boots for a formal event. She has a matching crystal jewelry set given to her by Lucky Faeschild. They work as locators. 

8: Describe one of your OC’s bad habits.

Jax. Jackson pulls at his hair and, when he realises he’s doing it, just starts being mean to everyone around him to cover up his flaws. 

9: Your OC is having a nightmare. What is it?

Vic. Vic dreams about her parents dying. She was there when it happened, and her throat still hurts when she wakes up from every single nightmare, every single time her mind wanders to it, every single time she thinks too hard about it. 

10: You are conducting a ritual. What 5 items would you need to summon your OC?

Ellie. A laptop, cool pens, a college ruled notebook, something that belongs to Micah and a new wristwatch.

What would Henry and Lucky's perfect wedding would be like?

Ah! Okay, so 

Lucky would want Jewish wedding traditions. Despite being orthodox Jewish his entire life, Henry wouldn’t give a fuck, so long as he got to marry Lucky. 

Lucky would be the one to think about it because they care about the Ziskind family being happy with them, even if the only ones that Henry really cares about the opinion of are Micah and Jamie. 

Lucky’s dress is a light green that’s almost white but not quite and they look so beautiful that Henry cries. 

Vic offers to tend bar at one of her closest friend’s weddings and Lucky legit considers punching her in the face for a second. She’s their maid of honor, even if Vic is definitely engaged at the time of the wedding. 

To whom? Wouldn’t you like to know. 

Jamie carries the rings even though he’s about twelve and probably too old for it because he’s such a sweet boy and he loves Lucky so, so much. He tells Lucky that they look like a queen. Lucky smiles and kisses the back of his hand and asks him to be a prince for the wedding. Jamie says yes, but only if Henry can be king. Lucky says of course. 

He’s a small 12 and a sweet boy, and he’s got a sarcastic streak a mile wide, but a crush on Lucky about six miles wider, so. 

Jax gives Lucky away. He’s crying and he’s holding Lucky’s hands and he gives them away and makes Henry promise to keep being just as good for Lucky as he always has been. 

Henry says of course. 

Ellie cries and holds onto anyone who will let him, which is a surprising everyone because everyone is soft for the henschild wedding. Ellie has never been so honored as he is to be Henry’s best man. Henry says that he’s the best brother he could have asked for Micah to have when Henry wasn’t there. 

Hazel throws confetti. Yes it’s necessary. It has glitter in it and Lucky loves it.

✨ — How does your OC express their love/affection for someone, whether platonically or romantically? Do they lean more toward physically or verbally expressive, or do they lean toward expressing these feelings in another manner?

Vic. Vic is... really bad at expressing love. Her parents died a long, long time ago. When she’s expressing love to Jax, her very best friend, it’s with a punch on the shoulder. It’s an I love you, man that has a tone of jest. It’s loving him, but on half speed. 

When she’s in love, Vic gives her time. She sits with her love and she isn’t always prepared to touch, but she calms down for once and just spends time with someone who loves to spend time with her and she tries to understand what that means for a few minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years. She tries to understand what loving her means.

[Vic] 💫 — Are they good at lying? Are they bad at it? Are there any particular reasons why they’ve developed this way? If they’re good at lying, how often do they lie and when? Do they lie even when it’d benefit them to tell the truth?

Vic lies like breathing. She’s lied every single day at least once a day since her parents died and she doesn’t regret a single bit of it. We do what we must to survive. She lies sometimes even when the truth would be better; it’s easier to protect herself if no one knows. Sure, someone could help protect her from things if she told them about it, but if no one knows, no one can target her for anything.

Hazel OR Vic OR Jax OR Lucky. 

Hazel likes to have fun. Is she sometimes dangerous about this? Yes. Does she do it anyway when her older siblings aren’t actively dragging her out of whatever situation she gets into? Also yes. 

Vic is a bartender. She likes bars. She likes dancing. She likes parties and good times and music so loud you can feel it reverberating in your bones. 

Jax doesn’t drink. He likes parties anyway. An excuse to touch and be touched, to dance without the expectation of anything else. 

Lucky Faeschild is hundreds of years old. They just wanna have a good time.
